I don't deny that that very well maybe be Nintendo's reasoning (look at the fucking GBA/GBA->GCN Link Cable stuff for Crystal Chronicles), I'm just saying... What a bad fucking idea. | Well then, I guess that'll be your friends' loss then eh (or yours I guess)? It isn't a bad idea at all. It stops you from spending a ton of money and it just means that you only need to buy the system and get the controller that comes with it and bring that one to other places. With things shifted to begin using wi-fi, does it not make sense for your friends to have their own system as well so that they don't have to make the trek to your place for gaming all the time?
I honestly don't see any problem with it at all aside from people being too stubborn and not looking at how this actually works.
Also also, if you buy a 5000 point card for the Virtual Console ($50 I believe? Basically gets you lots of downloaded games), you get the classic controller with it. Although it's $20 so that one's really cheap anyway.
And if all you're worried about is playing Smash Bros Brawl with friends, that won't matter anyway because it uses GC controllers (or possibly that cheap classic controller).

And maybe this is one of those "stubborn" things you're talking about, but (ESPECIALLY for console gaming), playing with your buds in the same room is way better. Just feels right. More authentic. More social. Gettin' together to play some SSB on the N64 was the shit. The night Miab got Perfect Dark and we hung out all fucking night unlocking shit was great. On the rare occasion that I have someone over these days and we bust out the VO:OT or Power Stone 2 or whatever, we are fucking there, man.
Also isn't the Wii's online play using the same bs "Friends Code" system that the DS does? Fuck that shit.

It actually hasn't been completely clarified whether that one friend code on that system can have different profiles in each game though. It'd be sort of lame if only one person could have a profile on the entire system.

Playing that crappy VOOT knockoff game in Xenosaga (which really wasn't THAT crappy, all things considered) made me remember how awesome that game was...not that I have anyone to play against.
And to not knock this off-topic...wait, it's already off-topic. Why isn't it about loli? | |
