Default Modchip selection for PS2 (Oh; the eternal question)

Alright, my PS2 has pretty much killed over, Blue-Bottoms won't load (which sucks because I enjoy a good round of Taiko No Tatsujin!) and my legit Pop'n Music games will occasionally give me errors when playing songs (at random, they're spotless and play correctly in a friends).

I just read that there is a white PS2 coming stateside this November, and I think it will compliment my PSP nicely- and the fliptop on my black PS TWO (Slimline) isn't the most asteticly pleasing thing (neither is swaping discs)

So anyway, I'm wondering what the best PS2 modchip is out on the market.
I'm not looking for anything with crazy customized bios, or anything like that. I'd like to boot my Super Robot Wars, Pop'n Music and IIDX.

Also, preferably, something that will be easy to solder (I can go for something with more complex instructions though, it's not the biggest priority.)

Thanks in advance, a reputible store would also be nice if anyone has dealt with a purchase like this before.

<Edit> Oh, how could I forget, PS1 import booting is a plus! I'd love to play some of the older Pop'n Games! (God I hope they're not terribly expensive)

The only input I can really offer is that to get PS1 games working, you're going to need a modded PS1. That's the best solution and it's not all that expensive or difficult to get up and running. PS2 chips with PS1 support often have issues loading games with copy protection schemes, and PS1 bemani have that in spades.

A friend of mine installed this and he's had no problems:

dms4 s.e. lite modchip dms 4 se pro mod chip

modchip.com has a lot of rep. Too many people in the scene buy from them. Give it a shot.

I did stumble upon the DMS3 Lite while browsing, and I was hoping someone would bring it up, and confirm that it's a good chipset.

The errr problem is that the only version that I can find available is the Pro (Not that the $10 is going to kill me) across many sites (all of the ones that the DMS site leads to). This concerns me just a tad (Aka is there some fault with the Pro)

Finally, what is the newest hardware revision for the PS2? is it v15? Do you think that the White one will be of the same version?

Well, my V12;Slimline (SCPH-70012) PS2 works very well with the Matrix MX4. I can even run homebrew apps and dump my bios without problems. It's fairly cheap as well. I'd personally recommend the Matrix Infinity/MX4 chips, but i've also head the DMS4 was pretty good as well.
