It must've been good since it's been re-released as a Playstation 2 The Best game. Looks badass to me and seems like it would require some extensive knowledge of Japanese.

You're going to need to know a lot of Japanese to figure out what's going on. You can BS your way through most of it, but a little Japanese knowledge isn't going to cut it.

Nah...I played through it using a FAQ a while ago. It was not too bad...just print up the options and you're ready to go.

But since then I've taken Japanese classes at my school so I'd like to play it again (when I get time)...

I saw it played at a party, and got to take on one of the missions myself. So, take this review with a grain of salt.

-Opening video and accompanying song = OWN. If nothing else, it pays the cost of admission. (Unless you find it on YouTube or something *hint hint*)

-A game script would probably help if you want the full experience. GameFAQs might possibly have translation guides (looks like one guy's got it covered through chapter 6) Without it, you shouldn't have too much difficulty at least playing the game. I managed my mission just fine, but I've also had a few Japanese classes (which amounted to crap, essentially-I had someone telling me what to do =P )

-At the party, we were playing the game for about four hours. We almost got through the entire prologue, which has something like five or six missions. Think about that for a moment.

Namco x Capcom was the shittiest overhyped game I've ever played. It had some promise, but it just ended up being repetitive and boring. I didn't even bother finishing the game because it just ended up being a chore(all I did was level up KOS-MOS anyway)..

I'm at stage 42 already. The levels are quite tedious to go through, like Johnny Rainbow mentioned, but it's hella fun.
I've been playing Japanese strategy games since I was 5, so even though I know only a very miniscule amount of Japanese, I basically understand what I'm doing even though I can't read anything.
My one gripe about this is that they don't give specific missions to some characters, like Haggar, Rose, Judas or Armor King. Like when the mission name comes up, there's usually a portrait of the particular character/s that the mission revolves around. Haggar is so left out :<

Read it, wanted to play ever since found images at RPGfan.com

To bad it wasn't in US, but my mom would gladly to take to Japan once i'm not of school. (But the next thing is learning japaniese. XP)

I would love to play, but because I squeed about the Xenosaga characters (Shion, MOMO, and KOS-MOS), as well other neat characters from other Namco/Capcom games! ^^;

Mind me for at least a responce in this thread! ^^;

i played the hell outta this. learned most things by trial and error but yeah its full on Strategy.

whats annoying is some later missions. i remember one where you Cannot kill Lillith. see, i didnt know this and spent 2½ hours on a fight only to lose because she died. But letting her live gets you her and morrigan team up and oh dizzamn its nice. Game SO needs a US release!

I ran across several videos marked as trailers, but I think you're thinking of the song that was also used in the opening, "Subarashiki Shin Sekai" (Magnificent New World) arranged by Yuzo Koshiro and sung by Flair.

Hope that helps XD

When I played it, I learned that I'm not cut out for strategy games and that my brother is. This is completely contrary to our personalities; me being the smarter one and my brother being the faster/stronger one, he would enjoy shmups and I strategy games, but the exact opposite is true.

I've been stuck in stage 27 for about a year now.

Lilith is an almost useless addition to Morrigan, in terms of battle.
