The screen wills spin and battle music will start to play. You and drunk friends will be forced to stand in a line rocking back and forth holding over sized swords. A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Arcade I go to, the joystick is flimsy so I tried playing it, and what I did manage to pull off I was quite happy with. Got whomped by the AI though. Perhaps it was too hard for me..either that or I'll blame the tools I use. xD
Need to see how a few more of the characters work in it. Any major changes? | |

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, the best game from SNKP so far.
Why did I like it?
1.- It doesn't have shitloads of subsystems and all that crap from their other games (AKA KOF). No hops, no retarded cancels, no +70% combos, no rolls... the gameplay is too basic, but it ACTUALLY WORKS. You actually need to play slowly and thinking about your moves, instead of RUSHING THAT SHIT DOWN UNTIL IT DIES (lol KOF).
2.- It has a lot of characters I've missed a lot since the old Neo Geo times: Hanzo, Fuuma, Dio, the Jin brothers, Tung, etc.
3.- Probably one of the very few games from SNKP where all the characters are more balanced than usual. Yeah, Marco and Big are annoying, but they're still beatable. Each character has the right tools to deal with anything.
4.- Good music, good backgrounds, shitloads of new/adapted sprites and effects.
Oh, and I use:
-Hanzo / Fuuma: Nostalgia AND one of the most awesome teams in the game. Hanzo's priority + Fuuma's combos = OMG.
-Hotaru / Chonrei: I <3 Hotaru, and Chonrei is one of my favorite FF characters. Also, Hotaru's amazing gameplay (involving her poses) combined with Chonrei's basic but damaging attacks are a nice combination.
-Robert / Haohmaru: I like Robert's charging gameplay, and he has a really nice ground control with his projectiles... and I added Haohmaru's high offensive and priority (yeah, CvS2 again).

I've been practicing for AI with my PS2 copy.
My usual teams:
Kaede / Terry or Hotaru (Depends on my mood)
Mudman / Fuuma aka Psycho Mutant Ninja Crusher Team With Sauce.
I still get owned at AI. But still have a fighting chance with GGXX. | |
