It's coming out this year (Q4 2008).

It's a perfect treat for the holiday season (in case you don't have a PSP yet).

Of course, as you know, the best benefit still lies in the improved LCD screen.

Best of all, overall power consumption has dropped (over the PSP-2000 and PSP-1000 models)

If you want a bundle, it comes out in October w/ Ratchet & Clank, a 4GB Memory Stick, some movie (National Treasure, but don't remember which one), & a downloadble thing so you can get Echochrome for free. If I had enough money, I'd get one.

The battery life has improved (when compared to the previous PSP models/versions).

I think we can see 20% lesser power consumption (compared to PSP-2000 series) and over 35% (against the PSP-1000 series).

This despite the newer LCD screen consuming around 10% more energy.

They've got a set date it seems:

"The PSP-3000 will be released October 14, 2008 in North America (US$199.99 for the bundles and US$169.99 for the core, which will be released later on), in Europe on October 15, 2008,[6], and in Australia on October, 2008 for AU$299.95.[7]"

Yea less power consumption is good. I own the first 2 PSP models so I think I'll get this one too. Play-Asia already has some colors shown for their pre-orders and they do look nice.

Hmm........

Actually if I remember right, Sony already does that. (for all territories).

They do release PSP units in green, blue, red and I think they released pink if I remember right.


Of course, for the upcoming PSP-3000 models, only Black, Silver Grey and White would be released (until end of 2008).

Other colors would only come starting next year (2009).

Actually the U.S. PSP's are getting more color variations than before. Of course black was the only color available in it's first release. Then they started doing those bundles like the Star Wars Vader one which was white. Daxter was silver, God of War was red and now they released a Madden 09 one with a metallic blue which does look nice.

But of course Japan gets all the colors so...

The prices of the devices are the same (if not lower) than the previous models and this applies to all countries/territories

Aside from the fact that Homebrew development is gonna halt on the new psp model.

That's pretty much the only reason to own a PSP these days.
