Well, overall it looks like a nice update, assuming the truth in all this. The advertising not so much so, but most of the features look (sound?) promising and interesting.

It wasn't really a problem in Battlefield 2142, I don't see it being a problem here. It's stupid but if it just means that there are dynamic billboards in PGR4 or something it's not that big a deal.

If Sam Fisher stops the game every ten minutes to experience a SUBLYMONAL hallucination and eat a McGriddle and adjust his Nikes then yeah you might have a point

hopefully we'll be able to customize all this, like with normal dashboard backgrounds. i'll be all over an animated TRANOID theme

actually, i think i'd most like to see the Marketplace and this new Live Arcade blade have backgrounds. it's so jarring to have nice backgrounds on everything, then glide over to the marketplace and get met with BRIGHTGENERICORANGE.

hell, i'm still waiting for more actual Blade graphics and Guide background customization like normal dashboard background customization.

Signs that this is a bullshit list:

# Compatibility with 3rd party wireless controllers

Microsoft already has stringent proprietary wireless technology. This would cause them to lose their share in the wireless department (mainly their controllers), and any 3rd party wireless controller has to follow in line with their proprietary wireless technology. So why would they have to change it if the controller, in theory, would have the same setup?

# Xvid support

This would be stupid for Microsoft to back, and would allow more piracy / cutting into the whole Marketplace rental avenue they have setup.

Yeah right. See above.

Betas are demos. Why would they make it a separate tab when betas and MMOs for the 360 are rare enough as it is? There would be no point, as there are no public betas going on right now. The last public beta I can think of was Halo 3.

Somebody needs to learn how to spell "recognize".

# Increased space size for gamerpics and dashboard themes

Somehow we'll magically give you more harddrive space! Your 20 gig HD now reads as 30 gigs~! There is no magical upper limit for gamerpics or dashboard themes, so how can they increase the space size for them if it's only limited by the amount of free space you have?

I find this list highly suspect, if not blatantly bad. It's mostly a "what I wish would come out" list, filled with incorrect punctuation, grammar, and the swapping of spellings of words from English to British and back again.

Well, maybe it's improved, but I was reading something from a R6:V player who said that the day that the patch containing downloadable ads came out, latency spiked, player disconnection rates doubled or tripled, and the multiplayer aspect of the game practically became broken because nobody could really stay connected for the duration of a full game.

*shrug* I know a few people who play it and they haven't brought anything like that up (and believe me, they would have if it were occurring to them D so maybe it only affected some people? Some of these updates have done some weird shit in the past.

i'd actually be surprised if some of this wasn't total horseshit. the IPTV sounds like BS, though you can't rule out the possibility that it'd be set-up where you can record whatever you'd like for some outrageous amount of Microsoft Points.

also, note that it said "Xvid support" and not "Xvid player". i wouldn't be at all surprised if the Xvid support is there so that those little still images advertising stuff on the main dashboard screen can become little moving images advertising stuff.

"3rd party wireless controller compatibility" would probably be the recent system update, which enabled the upcoming wireless guitars for GH3 and RB to function on the system.
