Default The New Xbox Experience Thread

While I don't have Live, I did install NXE from the Xbox web site. After hearing about Halo 3's significant loading on the HDD, I was shocked. I was wondering if the newer titles not listed in this page has the reduced loading, such as Street Fighter IV, Halo Wars, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and more. I also noticed that The Last Remnant fixed some fatal technical issues when played on the HDD.

One more question, I played Dead or Alive 4 on it and noticed that saving took way too long. If anyone knows, can they explain?

What;s the exact point of this topic? NXE? Or loading games to the HDD and the changed load times?

Several games have implemented HDD caching for faster load times off the disc (i.e. Halo 3). So if you do the disk install, you're doing a cache...from the hard drive to the hard drive, hence the slower speeds.

Also, what is the point of this thread?

Star Ocean: The Last Hope runs better off the disc.

Cached data like Halo 3 did? I thought newer titles would be more optimized for HDD Installs.

I'm disappointed to hear that; I noticed a fair amount of popup when I played and had hoped installing it would help with that

though maybe installing can't help with stuff like that anyway

A friend of mine installed SO4 because he was tired of hearing the disc spin almost constantly. Other than that I don't think there is a benefit to it.

I actually noticed choppier framerates with it installed so I'd say it does have a cache-type situation. It's not awful or anything with or without though. I have also heard stories of the game actually hanging when you go into battle sometimes while the game's installed.

I can't say I notice popup in the game really at all though.

Really? I played through the first boss and seemed to notice a lot of things in the forest that just kind of appeared.

I don't really remember that happening too much. Like, maybe enemies popping in, but other than that, not a whole lot.

More into issues, I haven't asked Microsoft about this, but when I have a certain number of save datas, saving more took about 30 seconds. Dead or Alive 4 took forever to save, which I can't figure out how since I had replays and photos on my HDD. Same went to having too many saves in Mass Effect and Forza Motorsport 2's replays.
