Is there a Brita filter in your brain that you need replaced? Half of this post doesn't make any sense to the subject at hand.

And Camp-Free deathmatch became a law with QTF back in the 90's where most servers had stat trackers running that would autokick someone for standing in the same place for more than 10 seconds.

I think he says he played Goldeneye back in the RE1 days and it was his first FPS.

... okay, I'm lost too.

"Back then" refers to dieKatze's post. While dieKatze was playing nonstop Doom, KK here was playing Resident Evil on "the first PSX." Mind you this is most likely just redundancy on KK's part and he is not referring to the first PSX to ever be created.

Goldeneye, or some PS1 game, introduced KK to the first-person shooter genre. The reader is to assume that quite some time passed between KK playing Resident Evil and Goldeneye/Random PS1 game, otherwise it seems pointless that he would mention RE in the first place.

I'm sorry I just don't know to what he is referring when he says "that could be a reason why!". Sorry. My translational skills have a limit.

I was always a bigger fan of the Unreal series than the Quake series back in the day. Unreal and Unreal II were fun games. I also enjoyed Star Wars: Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2 (Jedi Knight) quite a bit. Doom never really appealed to me.

Go get 8 people, a copy of Zdaemon Dedicated Server, Zdaemon clients for all, and EXEC.wad to throw on top of Doom 2. Play the first 16 levels 30 fraglimit, 10 timelimit, 5 second respawn. You'll never look back.

Excuse me for being vague...What I meant to say with the Cannibal Corpse reference was this:

Cannibal Corpse talks about GORE....Mutilation....etc.
This theme "before Quake was introduced to me....could be the reason why" I am more into Quake's dark theme than Unreal Tournament's "become the champion" theme...

I'm sure this will clear up a lot, specially Utah Teapot Dome Scandal's post...Nice job of clearing up a lot for me....obvious enough I was in a hurry!

DOOM I/II and their expansions, easily.

Doesn't help I used to mess with the IWAD and make PWADs back in high school (i.e. turn of the century with DOOM Legacy backing it up on porting)...so I guess I'm biased there.

I've made quite a few Pwads. If you've ever played the 8 player no spawn frag version of Doom 2, that was me.

Ah...most of the ones I messed with were the dumb ones.

i.e. DOOM 3 - Mister Smiley Heads Safari. Mostly broken (until they released version 7 not too long ago) but it had a nice touch of blowing up Barney the Purple Dinosaur, Pac-Man, G.I. Joe and the Blue Ranger.

Outside of that it was strictly messing with little things...I think the longest map I made took me roughly 15 minutes to clear it 100%. Weird design but it was interesting. I re-picked it up briefly when a few people in IRC grabbed an interest but it was maybe two maps and they were fairly square. That was in or around 2005 or so.

Best I've got past that is DOOMing it up over a school server and having 11 people go at it at once...on one of my maps. Needless to say I needed a lot more deathmatch starts than I did because triple-fragging happened (start overlapping).

I consider my best work to be Halls of Doom that was submitted to the Zdaemon shareware map contest. I had the 2nd highest score, and I lost because I didn't place any Ammo on the map. They obviously didn't test the map, because anyone who's played it with 4 people knows that you don't live long enough to need ammo.

I'll see if I can dig up a copy of it. If I can I'll fire up Yadex, add some stuff to it, and we'll all play.

Katze, you're tempting me.

BTW, does anyone here know if Duke Nukem 3D was also released on PSN or it's a XBLA exclusive? I wanna play it, and see if that thing also includes the Plutonium Pack (something that I could NEVER try).

Kinda related note: most of the DN3D mods I've seen are crap.
