whats the point in games giving you something for completeing the last challenge in them? I could understand if it was something you could use next playthrough, but...generally it's not. It's usually something thats really powerful or something like that but you really have absolutely no reason to use it, because your done with that playthrough.
the biggest example I can think of is what you get in Star Ocean: Till the end of time for beating Freya. I know you can fight her over and over again, but why would they give you sophia's best weapon for winning the hardest fight in the game? Shouldn't you had gotten that before the fight somehow?
You shouldn't be complaining if you actually got a usable, in-game reward for an extremely difficult challenge.
Try going from the aspect of mere bragging rights. For example, surviving Super Mario Brothers' Lost Levels rewards you with bullshit-harder levels and a joke world.
it's not the i'm complaining...I just don't understand why you'd get a good amazingly powerful item after theres no point in having it. Thats what i'm saying.
How much fun can it be to go through a game when theres little to nothing to do anymore with a weapon stronger then anything else you can get in the game. I know it's nice to have them, but I just think they could do a little better with that kinda thing. Second playthrough bonuses and stuff...
I like bragging rights and everything, but...come on now.
How about most useless unlockables? Seriously, in Sonic Adventure (I think just DX), after getting all the emblems, all you got was Metal Sonic. & he was the same as Sonic.
Usually, you can get the best items in the game BEFORE you complete. They're there to make the final boss easier.
Because if the most powerful item in the game were available from the start it would be a really boring game.
You have to work for those ultimate prizes. That's what makes it an ultimate prize.
I didn't say you should have it at the start either...ok let me try this again.
You playing through a game. Your pretty much at the end, your about to fight the toughest enemy in the game. you win and you get a really really good weapon.
Now, in order to get this weapon you were forced to go through the toughest area in the game and fight the toughest enemy (as I mentioned). For winning you get a really strong weapon. Whats really your motivation to use it after one or two times?
Wouldn't you much rather have something for your next playthrough for doing something like that.
Let me try saying it this way then...
Why give someone a strength boost for beating the hardest enemy in a game when at that point its obvious you don't need it?

Yea, that was only in DX.
A lot of RPGs as of late have given you a stronger weapon for beating that final oh so difficult bonus enemy.

items was the key word there. Not weapons. Weapons are what you get.
Items can be used to describe any sort of object that you receive in the game. You're nitpicking because you haven't fully thought your inquiries through.
i've never seen a game that lets you transfer your weapons over. I've seen and played some that let you transfer over your items (healing and thing of the sort) but never equipment.

I can tell you at least 5 that have been released within the last decade.
