Default Persuasive Games & unexplored ideas in general

Please leave internet drama out of this thread, I'm only posting for about a day or two anyway until I get kicked out of the house. :P

Persuasive Games - Games

I saw this on the Colbert Report and they're REALLY interesting. It definitely shows how few ideas have truly been explored with games.

One notable fact about this company is that the director does not code (from what I know of). His major was Philosophy/Comparative Literature. I've also noticed, when reading Literature (novels, plays, etc.) and such that the subject matter is completely different.

It's definitely interesting to think about. While most games tend to take from other games (e.g. how similar Japanese RPGs can be to eachother at times), this really begs the question: what else can be done with games that we haven't thought of, in terms of subject matter, gameplay, etc.?

Every time people ask that question, there's always something new that gets invented. It would be naïve to presume that we've "innovated all that can be innovated" with respect to games, and I'm sure than in a few years someone will come along with the next Wolfenstein or Sim City or The Sims or whatever -- something that will make us all say "man, why didn't anybody else think of that?" And they'll make a bundle of cash.

Also, hi Arch. An admin banned you, so I'm going to extend that to this username, but I'll look into why.

basically yeah

there is still a lot that can be done with games, especially with things like ds/wii/rhythm games/other peripherals/etc.

i for one would like to see more games using a handheld as a controller. i think that's been largely unexplored and really good games could come out of it

Wii Fit Board for pedals + two Wii remotes for throttle/weapons + a headset for comm chatter = a flight game that really really needs to happen somehow

People really need to become crazy with their ideas

Pants aside, though, this would be a tremendously awesome idea that needs to happen. Even without pedals.
