Default Phantom Hourglass

Anyone else pick this up today? I traded in a bunch of stuff (which is something I usually never do) so I could have it today and it was totally worth it. This is the first game in a while to get me to stop playing Pokemon for more than an hour.

Granted when I'm done with it, I'll be right back to the pokedex completion I was working on, but in the mean time I have a feeling that I'm gonna have a fantastic time with this game. I was rather worried about the all stylus control thing at first, but so far everything except the spin slash and somersaults have been smooth as silk and way easy to adjust to. I can only see it getting better.

I have it. I beat the japanese version shortly after when that came out cause I couldn't wait but I'm playing the US one now so I know what the hell I was playing for.

And ditto to Pokemon (no pun intended).

I actually got the Japanese version as a birthday present from Yoman0chaos a few months back, and I'm telling you, it's the most streamlined of all Zelda (handhelds) games I've ever played. I beat it in about 5 days too!

I won't spoil much here, but I will tell you that one of the items you get in the game has three different uses for it, which makes getting around so much easier, of course you're not gunna get it til later on.

I heard from different sources that some people didn't like how easy the game is, but the tangibility factor with the stylus has embodied a whole new way of making the puzzles fun to solve. If you ever got to doing the floors of the Phantom Hourglass dungeon, you're in for a treat.

I did the same thing with Diamond (and I was just about to get the National Dex too!) and let it collect dust for a bit while I was being preoccupied with beating the dungeons on PH.

Zelda games haven't been hard aside from Majora and 2 so honestly, complaining about how a traditional entry keeps its traditional difficulty is pretty stupid.

PH is fantastic and shouldn't be missed.

Zelda:PH is probably one of the best DS games out right now. It actually does something with the WHOLE system... I mean, for one thing you have to shut your damn DS!

I like the map draw thing especially. Handy for taking quick notes for puzzles.

...and I love the bow in this game -- but I might be alone on that one.

I'm gonna have to step in and say that you need to add just the Water Temple from Ocarina to that list of hard stuff :p

But yeah, Zelda games have never been hard as much as they're time consuming and require a good amount of thought for different aspects of the games.

The Water Temple was definitely fairly tricky.

Then again, in the Master Quest version of OoT, they made the Water Temple EASIER while everything else is harder (or at least felt that way to me) so that's probably why I hadn't remembered to put it on there.

Sadly I completely forgot the day it was released. (and I even looked at the best buy ads every Sunday) Now I can't find a copy even though I pre-ordered it.

Stupid me.

Agreed. The regular Water Temple in OoT was probably my least favorite dungeon (due to the hassle of raising and lowering the water level) while the Shadow Temple was my fave. But in Master Quest it was the other way around. You could get the longshot like five minutes from entering the temple!

In PH, are you talking about the Sand Temple? Cuz that's the only water dungeon I could think of in the game. The one where you have to hit the tiles on the floor to a distinctive patern to raise the floating platforms?

Its amazing, yeah. The bad parts are the short dungeons (so far), the accidental slashes and rolls when walking, and I dont know what you guys mean by epic bosses. There new, and inventive, but there also small, and the two i have seen look like larger versions of other enemies in the game.

Because of the advantage the DS screen has, it has the new formule of knowing HOW to beat the bosses. Some of them have it where the top screen shows you when a weak spot appears, or you switch back and forth to using a buddy to help you beat a boss (ie similar to using Medli on Wind Waker), or the boss is so big it takes up two of the screens. Believe me, it gets pretty intense that you would have to use the stylus to defeat them.
