Default PlayStation 2 Flip Top question

Yo, I was just wondering what exactly I needed for the flip top PS2 store at PS2 Flip Top.com because I don't know.

Do I just need the case or the swap magic disks also? Help would be most helpful.

Sorry if this breaks the rules, just lock if it does.

A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

If you plan to play imports on your US PS2, then you will need the Swap Magic + Fliptops. Without swap magic your top loaders would be useless unless the DVD tray motor was somehow broken.

Make sure to get the right kind for your version # of PS2 so it has a better fit.

There are plenty of websites that tell you what version your PS2 is, just google it.

Your model number + whatever will be indicators of what version PS2 you have.

Good site for fliptops and accessories in general, plus they're about $10 cheaper for a fliptop and a swap magic disc than the site you listed. They also have a list of compatibility, and which one you need, and how to tell from model numbers what version you have.

Also, certain versions are easier than others to mod, as some require disconnecting things and others (v9, v10, and v11 iirc) involve just taking the top cover off and putting the new one on.

I've got a v4 PS2, and all it took was taking the top cover off and putting the fliptop over it. My particular fliptop also had me reuse the PS2's memory card covers, but that was just my particular fliptop, the one my friend got (actually ordered from the same place a few weeks later, oddly enough) had it's own already attached.

I have a question too!

I once had a version 12 ps2, and bought a flip top cover for it. I tried installing it, and did something wrong. The spring that pops up the top on my ps2 fell out. So when I tried to play games and stuff, it would not recognize that there was a game in it.

Now, a few months later, I purchased a new ps2, and it is version 14. I want to know if I could transfer my old flip top cover from my broken ps2 to my new one. Would a version 12 cover work on a version 14? This site says theirs does...

But my cover is from this site http://www.ps2cover.com/pstwofliplidswapmagic.shtml .

I read that the only differences from a 12 and a 14 are the motherboard and the placement of the warranty lable. Should I try and install the top on my new ps2?

Maybe I'm wrong here, and if I am, I apologize, but you have one of the newer slim PStwos, right? Well, I received one last Christmas as a replacement for my dying old PS2 (which was fliptop modded), and I'm able to use my same old Swap Magic disc no problem with it as is. All I had to do was stuff a little bit of tissue paper down the hole near the Power button, then crack open the thing and duct-tape down another plastic sensor near the back of the console. Works the exact same as my old PS2 (except I have to have a game or Swap Magic already in when the PStwo boots up, else it won't detect the disc, but that's no big deal).

The version of the PStwo shouldn't matter. It takes about the same amount of effort to set up this mod, maybe even less, and you really shouldn't even need that replacement flip cover. This "$3 total household objects" mod works perfect.

Check out the whole "How To" here: http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm
