2D Pokemon games turn out loads better than the 3D ones.

I dunno, the 3D ones are just... limited. I mean, so far no random wild Pokemon? What's up with that?

The 2D ones shine, though. The game is longer, bigger, and involves wild Pokemon, not "shadow" Pokemon.

I prefer the Gold/Silver games over the others, seeing as they just expanded on Red/Blue.

Hmmm... I feel you must be experienced with pokemon, considering you know about smogon. I'm a pretty hardcore pokemon trainer myself, though I don't play NetBattle. The metagame in netbattle is too demanding and the strategies you employ are all ugh because of impossible in game stuff (Not needing to breed for IVs for hidden power is cheap). I'm awaiting D/P if only to actually battle other good trainers.

After red blue and yellow, pokemon sucked hard. Adding 100 more pokemon was the worst think that could possibly happen ever to anything ever at all.

Personally, I think the restructuring of the EV/IV system is where it all went to hell. That said though, I still love the games. It's a shame I don't have anyone to battle with, though.

I know... same here. If I had someone to battle with regularly, I would have played for a bit longer. Emerald's Battle Frontier got me very anxious to battle people. *sigh*

The EV system is still tolerable enough with the help of Serebii. I keep a notebook to track stuff for the Pokemon I try to breed and use more seriously than the others. The mechanics behind IVs are a total crapshoot now.

And there's no way you can hate on the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon with additions like Gardevoir, Absol, Metagross, and particularly Jirachi.

I've been religiously playing my FireRed and recently got my Hitmontop after much breeding getting Hitmonlees and Hitmonchans 8)

Also, Pearl and Diamond I just keep hearing that it's a 2D game, but with a 3d-ish overworld, where you can change the camera angles and such.

Probably Vaporeon, Hitmonlee, and Zapdos. My personal tastes lean towards the more graceful or aesthetically pleasing ones like Jirachi, Celebi, Absol, Milotic, even Roselia to some extent. My roommates and I were fortunate enough to attend JAA last weekend in Cincinnati to pick up Celebi and add some of the rarer Pokemon to our collection. The Celebi line was actually pretty short that day, enough to get two Celebis. Huzzah.

Blaziken is really the only cool starter in RS. Swampert and Sceptile have nice stats, but Swampert is a beauty shop nightmare and Sceptile is too busy growing that fern out of the ass.

The 100 added in Gold/Silver were good. Had you been talking about the 135 they added in Ruby/Sapphire for the hell of it, I would have agreed with you.
