That reminds me. I need to make that godly Choice Specs/Scarf Lucario. Man do I love moves that can't miss...

True enough, I suppose.
But sets can only get so good, same with items and values. Stat wise, something like Lucario with max EVs in Speed and SAtk should still be an excellent sweeper/mixed (depending on the situation, really) even though it could have better IVs. But when it comes right down to it, the amount of breeding it would take to get high IVs in every stat (not to mention the right nature at the same point) is simply too high for most players to rationalize. Hell, some people aren't patient enough to get the right nature -- and it took me ~15 tries to get a nature I could USE on my Spiritomb (Luckily the thing has horrendous speed that I had no hopes of saving)
IVs can make or break mirror matches, though. (Going back to the Lucario thing: If we both had Max Spd/Satk, Choice Specs/Scarf (both would have to have the same one), and identical movesets, then the Speed/Satk IVs would be the deciding factors, save for moves with critical hit chances.)
I'll be honest, though: I think a bit of strategy can compensate for the 30 point stat differences in many cases. Sometimes it is as simple as switching/Baton Passing. Sometimes the smart thing to do is hold out. Pokemon has a lot of decision making in it, especially in 3v3 play where you really cannot afford to mess up THAT much (you do not want to be 1v3, even against the CPU).
...and as soon as I get PBR, I'll be battling a lot more. Right now I'm having enough trouble getting my Lucario together, and I still have to pull a good Blissey set out of Emerald (I'd like a Seismic Toss Blissey, okay?)... not to mention I need another Protector so I can make a better Rhyperior (because oh god is Solid Rock a kickass trait)

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Yeah, I know what you mean. It does take a lot of time and it's really not fun at all to breed, I guess I do it really to kill time at work more than anything else. Plus my lack of ability to play pop'n music has left me with plenty of pokeymans time.
Getting the nature you want isn't that bad, and if you're breeding a female with the right nature, give it the ever stone. 50% chance of passing on nature to offspring. Now that I'm finished with Dusknoir (minus getting to lv 100) I'm moving onto breeding horseas. Oh the fun times I have.

In case you didn't know, if you put an everstone on a female that you are breeding, it has a 50% chance of passing on it's nature. So I do that, and then any pokémon without my desired nature, I release. I then check their IVs by getting them to lv 20 and then if they're not acceptable, I release them. Last night I had one with possible 30-31s in HP ATK and DEF, but it's SPD SP ATK and SP DEF were not what I wanted, so I tossed it. :P

I'm in dire need of a soul dew, and I wouldn't mind being able to drill through sapphire a few times and get a couple extras for friends. I'll check back, or feel free to PM me if you have any leads. | |

All this IV talk makes me want to take my Lucario build more seriously, though... too bad the gender percentages for Riolu are ugly. 12.5% female... not to mention nature.
