Default Pre-modded PS2 stores?

Well - I am finally going to pursue getting a premodded ps2 and get some iidx and some more pop'n games, but I need opinions on online stores. The only place I really found a premoded system was at modchipstore.com - any other outlets I couldn't find on google that is reasonablly priced? (under $400)

You can simply buy a used PS2, and mod it yourself for under $200.00..

rsp I think it's reasonably clear that he doesn't have the skill to mod a console and that you have therefore offered absolutely nothing useful at all in saying this

Anyone else, please keep replies to something not completely pointless

Well why does it have to be modded? By "modded" I assume you are refering to an actual mod chip?

Flip tops are dirt cheap, and virtually impossible to fuck up or damage your ps2. Anyone should be able to do it, and if the entire issue is him wanting to only play imports, then why go to all the trouble of paying 400 dollars for something that can be achieved with 30 dollars? Even if for some reason he doesn't have the skill to mod with a flip top, simply buying a real Japanese PS2 would be even cheaper if all he wants to do is play imports.

Its easier if he would clairify why he wants a modchip. Just making sure he hasn't gotten rid of other options for the wrong reasons. Those reasons are getting pretty slim too. Pirated DVD-9s are one of the few reasons, and they are so expensive its probably easier to just buy the real game.

I'd suggest you buy a chip and try it yourself on your current ps2 *assuming you have one*, because its A LOT cheaper. Even if you fuck up and destroy it, you've already said your commiting yourself to buying another anyway? Its a risk, but it would save you a ton of money. You aren't going to find too many places that sell them for cheap, unless you actually find a real import store on the street. All the online places are extremely expensive.

I think my cousin at the age of 12 successfully installed the flip top with swap magic, which is what I meant...

http://www.gocybershop.ca sells pre-modded PS2s and all other types of modifications you'd ever need for mostly any moddable console. The bad part is that they ship from Toronto and since you're in the US the prices are a bit high, but not bad compared to other sites i've seen that sell the things.

Good site, a little slow to get to anywhere though.

ModChipStore.com has pre-modded slim PS2s for sale:
http://modchipstore.com/PlayStation-...les-1-250.html

However I recommend just buying a used PS2 for cheap and buying a fliptop + Swap Magic combo somewhere online. Youll save more than 100 bucks. If you find a good price for a used PS2, maybe even save 200 bucks.

Yes, but they clip onto the BIOS chip of the system and are INCREDIBLY easy to screw up. If there's any difference whatsoever with the shape of the clip and your BIOS chip, it's either going to break one of them or it isn't going to work.

A good idea in theory, but they've shown it's very hard to implement reliably.

Just guessing from the fact that he wanted a pre-mod, but I have no actual idea if he would have cared for one. Your guess is as good as mine =\

Anyways does it really matter?

Why not just get a new slimline PS2 ($120) and do the tape and towel mod? It's free and a monkey could do it :/

It's "tape and tissue," my typo. Anyway, you just:

1) wad up a ball of tissue paper and stuff it in the sensor hole on the top side of the PS2 (then put tape over it to seal it in)

2) Open the PS2, and tape down the switch on the PS2 board.

It takes about 10 minutes and it could not possibly be easier. It makes your slim PS2 work just like a fliptop.
