Marketplace Rating: 0 | PSP or DS? Well. I haven't posted in like a century but I need some help. I'm debating on whether to buy a DS or PSP. Price isn't much of a matter but somewhat. I wouldn't use music or movies or anything like that on the PSP because that's why my MP3 player is for.. so strictly going by the gaming portions. To me DS's lineup is kinda childish and I don't play pokemon, yet everyone says that if it's just for gaming get a DS. Yet i've also heard bad things about the PSP. Any help?

Hotel Dusk
Trauma Center
Etrian Odyssey
Clubhouse Games
2 Castlevania games (5 if you count the GBA versions)
Planet Puzzle League
Final Fantasy III DS (if that's your thing)
Every GBA game ever made
Just to name a few.
People who claim that Nintendo's lineups are only "childish" annoy me off to no end.

In my personal opinion I would pick a PSP just for some great games and ports
Guilty Gear
MGS
Burnout DJ MAX

I won't say anymore because I'm biased and think Monster Hunter is the greatest series ever >_>

Marketplace Rating: 2 | rmz's hit on a bunch of the better DS games but I'm finding myself buying more and more PSP titles as of late. I'll describe some of them since, by and large, no one else is going to. There are a bunch of retro compilations available, most of which are quality and most of which are cheap. If you like shooters, there's the Gradius collection; if you liked the EA of old they've got a package out that includes Syndicate and some Wing Commander; if you're a Sega fan you'd like the Genesis collection.
The PSP has a shitload of puzzle games that are pretty good as well, and they all really benefit from how well they're presented. Lumines and its sequel are both excellent. Crush came out recently and is very interesting. Practical Intelligent Quotient is brain-busting in the late game so if you like a challenge it's tons of fun. Exit is great if you liked the Lost Vikings games way back when. Gripshift is like portable Trackmania, where a lot of the challenge comes in figuring out how exactly to get from point A to point B.
There's a lot of action, roleplaying, and sports games too but I'd have to know something about your tastes before I could recommend much more beyond what I already have. Homebrew is back on track with the M33 releases picking up where Dark Alex bowed out, so if you're into emulation or indie games you'll be pleased to hear about that.
One final thing to consider: are you going to have a Wii or PS3? Each company's handheld can connect to its console to do various things, so if you're limiting yourself to one next-gen system you may wish to take that into account.

i also cannot stress DJMAX 1 and 2 more than any other game ive played on my PSP. when there is a game on a portable system that makes my Xbox 360 collect dust for a few weeks it should definitely be taken note of.
on the other side though, if you want something different the DS is a DAMN good choice too. that system is in no way childish. I actually prefer the DS over the PSP simply because its more fun to play.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Yeah, the PSP homebrew scene is solid. Stay far away from Lumines and the sequel. Both of them are so good and addicting that you might find yourself forfeiting meals and sleep to play them. So, Lumines and the homebrew stuff would be my reasons to get a PSP.
For the DS: Mario Kart, Pokemon, Castlevania series, Hotel Dusk (until I figure out how exactly to get SCUMMVM on the DS, this is my adventure fix), Meteos (almost as good as Lumines), New Super Mario Bros., Elite Beat Agents series, etc. The list honestly goes on and on. I just imported Picross and it is dangerous. Not even close to exciting but it is beyond engrossing. But yeah, the DS library makes it the system of choice for me. They have a little for everyone and most of that is quality stuff.
