Default PStwo USBeXtreme questions

I have a few questions for anyone know owns or know about USB eXtreme for the PS2. I have a slim PS2

- Does it work as USB2.0, or does the PS2 only have 1.1 as I''ve heard?
- Where can I find a list of compatible Hard Drives/Enclosure Combos?
- Is the USB eXtreme disc required to load games from the hard drive, once it's connected to the PStwo? (I plan on bringing it to other peoples houses, but my PStwo has a DMS4.lite in it [I can't seem to access the DMS4 website])

Any help is highly appreciated

Yep, it's simply playing games off of a hard drive, instead of using the DVD-ROM drive.

The PStwo only has 1.1 so the speed is going to be very slow. Also, another issue that I should mention is that USB eXtreme only works with about 5-10% of all PStwo games so cause of it I have to say that it's not really worth it. As for a list of HDDs that work with it I haven't seen any for USB Extreme, albeit I have to think that just about any enclosure should work fine. As for the disc itself, it's only needed to start up the USB eXtreme program itself, afterwards you can remove the disc just fine. As I mentioned though, most games will not work with this so if you wanna try to play the newer DDR games or any IIDX games off of this, it's not happening!

Well that's really dumb. I would've guessed it was more around 50%. Is it because of the speed limitations of USB 1.1 that most games don't work?

It's a pity, because that would've been a really cool way to transfer games around.

it works with way more than 5 to 10% of games. Honestly, if you have a fat PS2, just use HDLoader and carry your PS2 around. Much faster and way higher compatiblity.

Or get the HDCombo and make your PStwo look cooler than it already is.

I should note that all PStwos that are V14 and newer will not work with HDCombo. As for the 5% to 10% statement, that's what I've seen from the compability list concerning HDAdvance and USBeXtreme. In terms of HDAdvance though, the compability is 95% which is much better.

HD Advance is said to be at 95%, but because of DVD9, its closer to 90% now. HDLoader just works. Not to mention how friggin outdated HD Advance is. I only use it to load games when I dont have my memory card. It doesnt run some of my games either.

Theres no way USBextreme's compatiblity is at 5 to 10%. They wouldnt release the product if it was that bad.

They would if people were desperate. I think that means that 5-10% of games work flawlessly.
