Question about my Pokemon Crystal game (please help)

I have always loved Pokemon Crystal Version. Its is my absolute favorite Pokemon game (and Its really the only gameboy game I ever play anymore).

About a month ago, my family and I drove up to San Francisco for the weekend, and I decided to play Pokemon Crystal on the drive up. When I turned the game off I made absolutely sure that the game had been saved before the game was off.

When I turned the game back on, there was no saved data. The main menu just said:

OPTIONS
NEW GAME

and thats it.

So I tried the whole process again. I played, I saved and I turned the game off. The axact same thing happened. There was no saved data even though I know I saved.

I have tried saving my game numerous times since then, but the same thing keeps happening. My game simply won't save the data.

Could someone please tell me whats wrong with my game. Is their anything I can do to fix it???

The battery must have worn.

Some games use a battery to save the game to the cartridge, and it won't save anymore after the battery inside dies. Some carts are clear and you can see the battery insde of them if I recall correctly.

I have no idea how to fix them though, I have a couple games that are like that now, too.

Its definitely the battery. What you said is EXACTLY what happens when you try to save a game when the battery is dead.

Im sure there is a way to fix it, but you have to open the cartridge and replace the battery, and for all we know that might need a special battery or soldering might be involved.

I havent tried it myself but Im sure a good google search can help

yea my Pokemon silver did that

it just will not save....whatsoever.

I would have returned it to nintendo requesting they compensate my 40+ hours clocked on the game by sending me a Mew or Celebii but my friend had written ASS on it with a sharpee so i figured just get another one.
