If anyone can find a website (Google wasn't much help) or help me find the controls (button layout and function) of the following game series, that'd be great;
Marvel vs. Capcom
Guitly Gear
Capcom vs. SNK
Melty Blood (import)
King of Fighters
Fatal Fury
Street Fighter | |

ABCD
A = Weak Punch; B = Strong Punch;
C = Weak Kick; D = Strong Kick
This can easily be changed to:
AC
BD
This is the usual PS2/Xbox controller setup
Fatal Fury (early games)
ABC (D is not used)
A= Punch; B = Kick; C = Throw; A+B = Shift to background/foreground
Later Fatal Fury games
ABCD
A = Punch; B = Kick; C = Special; D = Shift to background/foreground
If you wish to get the most out of a built controller, you use the Street Fighter 6-button layout, or the layouts of Hori sticks on the newer consoles
1234
5678
Just adjust the buttons as you see fit. | |

AB
CD
not
AC
BD
Also when I shop for arcade controllers I accept nothing other than the 4x2 layout. It's the most versatile format there is.

That configuration is too weird. I do remember people mapping buttons in a XX arcade around here like this:
P S D
K H

KSHD
P
Basically its:
Thumb: Punch
Index Finger: Kick
Middle Finger: Slash
Ring Finger: Heavy Slash
Pinky: Dust
And I use this configuration alot. Yeah, try for a Hori style 8 button layout to cover all fighting games. But kinda like how the Wii Hori is set up.

I like that and the neogeo (all in a row, but with A placed lower than BCD) configurations the best so I can keep my thumb and first 3 fingers placed one on each of the buttons. Since a lot of the fighters on neogeo use A & C for punches and B & D for kicks, the AC on top BD on bottom is probably the most common alternate config I've seen, although I've seen some pretty horrible button layouts on neogeo cabinets. I remember years ago seeing a whole thread on some other site with pictures of terrible MVS layouts. I can't find it now, but it was full of stuff like this (which wasn't even close to the worst one on there).
lol, how the hell would you even play on this?

Maybe that's why I find myself more comfortable with the button config I posted (lol console-like config).
