Radiant Silvergun Sequel and NiGHTS Sequel (Somewhat Announced)

I absolutely believe that it could come out for the 360 in Japan, because I'm pretty sure that Microsoft would agree to put out a game where you just run around shitting on people's chests as long as it was made by a Japanite developer, which is a somewhat less stringent standard than Sony maintains. Whether it would come out here is another matter altogether. There's been some stuff released for the 360 in Japan that hasn't and won't ever come out here, in spite of the fact that it would sell better here just by virtue of a bigger install base.

this is an excellent point, while Sony's high standards make video games easy to use things these days, they really need to lighten up some. They will apparently reject a game for having helptext of:

"Move to select and then push the Confirm button"

instead of:

"Use the <image of DPad> to select and then push <X Button image> to Confirm"


Microsoft just wants to establish themselves in Japan as a fucking player compared to what they were last time. the number of Original Xboxes sold in japan barely fills my bathroom.

Stuff like this helps, and the Live Arcade kind of gives them a bit more of a chance to fill the role the PS2 had as the home of independent games, but they're already fucked in Japan. Blue Dragon gave sales a bit of a boost, but there are weeks where the 360 is outsold by the fucking GBASP. Unless they can get a consistent stream of titles that appeal to the market there things are going to be even worse this generation.

Things to get straight:

1) This "news" is from G-Rev the rumor mill as opposed to G-Rev the game developer.

2) The X360 game is not RS3. (*) As of yet, nobody knows what it is.

3) Keeping (1) in mind, it's pretty doubtful that a new Nights is in fact coming.

Everyone knows it’s a not "news" and is subject to change, but I've heard many places saying they were considering a NiGHTS sequel for the Wii. They really need to get one out soon before no one will care. After all, how many people actually own a copy of NiGHTS & Christmas NiGHTS for their Saturn? Heh, how many gamers actually own a Saturn? Anyone besides me, even own a JPN Saturn? Its just too old-school, the PS1 generation won't give a rat's ass about the game.

Also, I don't think the 360 will ever get off the ground in Japan. Everything big is going on the ps3 or the wii as far as Japanese gamers are concerned. After all the 360 is basically a console outlet for PC-type games. I was under the impression that the Japanese aren't exactly the biggest pc gamers either.

It’s just proof that games won't sell across the cultures. Look at all the games that will NEVER see the light of day in America. There is definitely a small market of dedicated gamers on both sides, but the mainstream just won't ever care.

Does it really matter though? The US and Europe are the bigger markets now. The 360 was the number seller this holiday. Microsoft has to be making some good money even without Japanese support. I keep getting the impression, they want to be a contender in Japan, but it wouldn't be the end everything should they pull out of Japan.

I still have Nights, my 3D control pad, as well as a few Sega Saturns lying around. I agree with Yuji Naka's original response to sequel talk, there was no need because Nights as it stands is perfect and a sequel wouldn't do it justice at all.
