After version 6 became an exclusive for the XBOX 360, it's now the turn for version 7 to go stay with the PS3 as its exclusive partner.
I've played it on a demo PS3 60 GB unit (Asian version) at a local store for more than five times and I have to say, this is the best launch title for the PS3.
The experience was awesome. Unless you are used to Formula 1 games, then you would never had experienced reaching speeds of up to 400 KM/H and especially when you are in top gear (7th gear), that's where it all begins.
The graphics were superb (for a first-gen game on the PS3 platform) and the feel, gameplay, control, features (like nitro boost) were all amazing. Plus, there are lots modes to so you would never get bored (unlike in PGR 3 where I got instantly bored after playing the game for 30 mins. straight). Playing in Arcade modes and on the UFRA Special Events were an experience that really pushes one to the edge. Although the unit didn't have online play (the store didn't set an internet connection yet), offline play was already SUPERB in itself.
The feel is really awesome and what's more, the game supports ALL display resolutions supported in the PS3 spec. The monitor at the store only had 720p/1080i as its max. but even at that resolution, it already looks clean and stunning. Heck, I can't imaging how amazing this thing could get once hooked to a 1080p screen via HDMI port. Now that would rock worlds
The music selection was also good. I do admit though that I haven't tried all the other musical tracks since I was to addicted to listening to "Awakening" but the rest should be good.
Summary:
For me, it was the best launch title that the PS3 could ever get. It's easily worth the money. IMO, it's even more worth it than buying a copy of PGR 3 even if it sold for under USD$20 (under 1000 pesos).
This game really lives to its expectations.
