RPG Maker VX (PC)

Anybody else mess around with this program? It's pretty neat.

If anybody used RPG Maker XP, there are some changes. Instead of using a whole bunch of individual tilesets it seems there is just one set of 5 interchangble tilesets now. There are also only two layers to work with (map and event) but you can somehow change the layering properties of the tiles so they don't kill the tile below it. It's also upgraded from RGSS to RGSS2 (I don't really know the difference but there's more you can do with it)

I just got it today so I haven't done much. I'm going to play with it more at work later today.

I've always been fascinated by these but don't want to spend the 200+ hours it would take to make a halfway decent game. Much less the thousands of hours it would take to make anything even approaching commercial game length.

I've dumped probably a grand total of 700 hours into my own games but I wouldn't dare release them to the general public without advance apologies.
