I saw this. I never really knew much of the series (aside from it being a JPN game series & also an anime. & being in some of those Super Robot Wars games), but I think I'll try this out once I get the chance.

Why did it take so long to bring it here to the US? Fear of it not doing well?

Sakura Taisen V...

...

Well, I guess they gotta start somewhere. I would've preferred a remake of the original (Sakura Taisen: Atsuki Chishio Ni) but eh...

That, and from what I hear, the attempts of the other PS2 ports by various publishers got rejected by Sony.

Maybe they only approved ST5 because it takes place in America.

Best news ever.

Only question is which version I want.

Leaning towards Wii, because I own too many PS2 games as it is.

A bit of a post-Anime Expo bump... It was announced at NIS America's panel that both PS2 and Wii versions will have premium, 2-disc packages. One disc will be the English dubbed version, while the other will have the orginal Japanese audio.

http://www.nisamerica.com/images/ema...l_20090708.jpg

Hopefully this will please both extremes of the dub/sub debate.

Quick question: If I were to play a few hours on, say, the English audio disc, then decided to play on the Japanese audio disc, will I start from where I left off or will I have to make a separate save file for that disc?

Also, was there no room on 1 disc to have BOTH English & Japanese? It just kind of reminds me of when you had to choose between subs & dubs for old anime on VHS instead of having both on a DVD.

I'm pretty sure that you would be able to swap back and forth between the two discs as you please. I would think both discs will contain the same product code for their respective consoles and save files use product code tags to associate it with the game.

From what I heard, the original Japanese PS2 version of the game was already close to filling a DVD because of the shear amount of audio and since NISA wanted to do a complete 1 to 1 dub for this high-profile title, there was no way they were gonna fit both audio tracks onto a DVD9 or a dual-layer RVT-R. I think they came to a very good compromise.

The only thing I'm worried about is Idea Factory handling the coding side of things instead of RED...

So basically, both discs have the exact same data except for the language. Yeah, that's a good compromise. Plus, if ya lose/scratch/break/want to let your friend borrow 1 disc, then you'll have the spare disc!

That's actually a very smart (albeit not as cost-effective) move. I'm surprised Atlus never toyed with the idea even now. They should leave the original printing on one disc and a translated logo on the other.

I prefer a good dub over a sub, but if the dub turns out to be real bad(NIS don't exactly have a perfect track record), I might go for the LE. Nice packaging and/or bonuses would help determine that.

If what I heard was correct, NIS pulled out all of the stops for this game's dub to get the best possible performances out of their voice actors. In fact, I'm quite excited to find out who exactly will be in the cast. If they cast Laura Bailey as Gemini, I can die a happy man!

If she's in it at all, that's reason enough for me to give this a chance.

*Checks Wiki to see who Laura Bailey is* Hmm, she's done some interesting stuff. Lust in Full Metal Alchemist, Evangeline in Negima, & was Chun-Li in Street Fighter IV. Yeah, she looks like a good candidate.
