Anyone else playing this insanely amazing/addictive game?

I'm loving this so much more than I ever did Tony Hawk games. The controls seem a bit finicky and need some finetuning, but jesus christ I love how 'realistic' it is. Doing a kickflip noseslide , and it being a 'good trick' = Win.

And another plus: Uploading videos of your lines, is awesome.

Sorry I don't want a "realistic skateboard simulation" if I wanted that I'd buy a skateboard and actually learn how to skate myself.

As opposed to doing 900's off of sidewalks in Tony Hawk. Havn't played it yet, but I've been waiting for it.

It's surprising...I'm a huge, huge fan of the THPS franchise and am prepared to say that I'm pretty fucking good up through THAW, and was only mildly interested in this, but it's honestly goddamned amazing how much fun I'm having in a little skatepark with just a few ramps and rails scattered around. You have a ridiculous amount of freedom in terms of trick stringing, and the controls let you insert grabs or flips wherever you think they'd look nice. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you hit the hour mark you should be able to nail tricks pretty solidly.

It honestly conveys the sensation of getting better through practice, which isn't something that many (any?) other sports games can claim. I've got a youtube video of some gameplay processing right now that shows a vert string I nailed together.

The most exciting prospect for me is that Tony Hawk now has some decent competition in town, heh. No offence to the Tony Hawk series, but it's gotten quite the bit repetitive as far as goals and all are concerned. This really is a breath of fresh air to me.

...but I agree with most of the stuff in here thus far. I was never a fan of the TH series, but I love this so far. I've always been more of a simulation person than an arcade action person, so this is perfect.

My only complaint really is the camera angle--it can kinda get in the way on occasion

There was a skate. thread in FB a while back, but I still stand by the fact that I think the game is a breath of fresh air in the whole Tony Hawk saga. At least you don't have to keep doing manuals to keep a combo going.
