(But generally speaking, Euro > US$ > Yen.)

Marketplace Rating: 0 | hahaha sony. Always screwing people out of there money. I think they're probably trying to makke up for the lost profit of US PS3s. BTW excel: I read the thing on the website that youhave linked to a picture in your siggy, and that list is about 90% EXACTLY like me. especially the ramen one, and the security camera one. you have no idea how much it bugs me, cause i try to look into my own eyes and it weird yeah off topic...
$600 price tag and $800 production cost. It's a damn shame i'm a playstation fan. If i was an Xbox fan, i'd be in good shape right now. Oh well. it's got Tekken 6!

Marketplace Rating: 0 | It's not really going to affect me since I already own 2 ps2s, but if Sony already seemed to have the backwards compatibility a bit shaky but working with the US and JP versions, why would they reduce it to a limited list of games for us? "We want to concentrate on ps3 games" is copout bullshit imo, they just want to spend less money where the currency is stronger. This annoys me to the point of not wanting to give sony my hard-earned sterling. | |

Marketplace Rating: 5 | Not that I'm the biggest fan of Sony here, but it sounds like they're just admitting they're focusing more on the current generation of software rather than ensure perfect backwards compatibility at launch. Maybe I'm not reading the same article as everyone else, but it doesn't sound like Sony is "crippling" the backwards compatibility at all. They're just using resources to ensure that the MAJOR points of the system work properly, which is what they SHOULD be doing.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | The bulk of the people buying these things will already have a PS2. I don't see it as being any more of a horrible showstopper than it was for the 360, which I enjoy a great deal.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | The move to software BC will allow sony to upscale the old ps2 and PSX to HD later. Keep in mind, you can still play 98% of your psx games, because that emu was already done in the ps2 slim. The Magic Box: International Videogame News PS3 section
It's to late now though, the press has already gotten a hold of it and blown it out of proportion. Sony screws itself for not being clear about their intentions.

A "cheap shot" at Sony, if you will.

Since we all knew that the EE+GS chip on older PS3s was to be removed on latter builds, this was already a given.
I still think that software emulation > EE+GS chip. As seen on FF 12, it shows that it does look even way better on the PS3 when its upscaled.
That and other pieces of good news include: DVD upscaling, support for 1080p/24fps (for the movie buffs), the newest SKU dev-kit for developers, Playstation EDGE development tools released yesterday, upcoming improvements to the Playstation Store and the newest 65nm processor die-shrink among others.
Things are looking better . Quote: |

| Umm....that's what the FUD-spreading people at Microsoft's XBOX division want you to believe. Heck, it was them who said that 1080p was useless. Now look at them, they released a Dashboard update along with 1080p but they were too dumb not to realize that not all TVs support 1080p via component and stupid for not planning ahead by putting HDMI since the start. Combine that with a noisy DVD drive, a noisy fan and internals that are scorching-hot.
It was only until the rumored second iteration of the XBOX 360 would include the HDMI port, HANA scalar chip and the new 65nm. I guess XBOX early adopters got the shaft for this.
I guess Major Nelson and Peter Moore are included in the list of FUD-spreading phonies.
