it's like a new kind of music game, all aural! Its quite intriguing, and its part of GameBoy Advance simplified, back-to-basics series bitGenerations.
I don't have a GB Advance, but upon reading a review in PLAY magazine and intrigued by the concept, i'm seriously thinking of buying a GB Pocket and importing a few. It seems like a new type of gaming, yet ironically it does so by taking a step back.
Ive played all the Bit Generations games on GBA. Each goes for like 25 dollars, and there are 7 different Bit Generations games. Thats 175 bucks for them all. I just downloaded them and played them on my GBA emulator, saves me money.
In Soundvoyager, you don't make music. You wonder around on this blank map and try to find a sound in the canvas. Once you get it, it stays, and you find another until the song is done. Thats it. Then you go into this weird minigame where you have to dodge invisible cars, and the only clue you get is what side of the speakers the noise is coming from.
I actually just recently got Soundvoyager and I'm in the process of writing a review for it. It's honestly the most interesting sound based game I've ever played, the visuals are COMPLETELY worthless, when you play it you really need to be wearing a pair of headphones, and just close your eyes, otherwise you're just gonna lose. Basically depending on the game you're playing (there are a few different ones in the game) the object will either be to avoid sound coming at you, or travel toward sound around you until you hear it completely balanced in your headphones. It's really crazy, and a VERY unique concept, not something I'd recommend for long term play, but definitely something to check out.
DigiDrive is where it's all at! I even wrote an FAQ for gamefaqs for it AND bought the wireless adaptor to multiplay with other GBAs. Good thing about DigiDrive, it has single cart download play.
