Square's been working on Fantasy Earth for ages now. I mean, it wasn't just hinted at, there are actual screenshots of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if something was lost in translation there and the site took it to mean that they were making a sequel to FFXI when they meant, we are gearing up a new MMO in the vein of FFXI.

Fantasy Earth was boasted to be completely UNLIKE Final Fantasy XI, so I doubt that's the case. Fantasy Earth was just their next step in their MMO plan, but it was definitely NOT running on PS3/360/Vista power. Square would be the last company out there to port something so graphically weak to such powerful systems.

I really hope it's another FFXI-style MMO. I want so much to love XI again, but the gameplay sucks so horribly.

I'm probably an enormous douchebag for saying this AGAIN, but if they made a Final Fantasy-themed WoW, I would never stop playing it. I don't know what it is about the theme that has me captivated, but it leaves me feeling so awesome.

As for the matter at hand... I like group elements in MMOs, honestly. I mean, you try Ragnarok Online, and you kinda just happen to be playing at the same time as other people. But then you get to the other end, an MMO that almost outright requires it at all times to viably be able to play it? Nah.

And it's sequel? Eh.

If I want to play wow at 3 in the morning, I can jump on, and go play it. If I get on FFXI and I'm looking for a group for hours? Not fun.
