I know I can't be the only one looking forward to this game coming out. I can't possibly be the only Tales of... fan.

Anyway, apparently the demo is out on the Japanese Xbox Live. I just found this out tonight which sucks because I only have access to Xbox live at a friends house (which I decided not to go to at the last minute so i'm mildly pissed). Another thing, I hear it supports both English and Japanese text and voice wise but you can only download from the japanese xbox live.

Regardless...anyone else excited about it?

I don't get what they're doing with the character designs

Yeah whatever. Flynn to Ky is pretty much the only one that's even close. Heaven forbid that an artist's characters look anything alike though. The kid looks absolutely nothing like Lloyd in-game either way.

The demo is extremely good. Free run, new Fatal Strikes, Skill Change Artes, new stuff to do in Overlimit, environmental hazards in-battle (which can be used to affect enemies too), a skill system dealing with equipment (I guess like FF9) and the characters actually seem to be a mix of different classes, and not just strictly healer or strictly attacker.

I'll be buying it day one.

Just making me want it more. When you say skill change artes, do you mean something like FoF? (Yea, I haven't really been info gathering up until now. It slipped my mind until I heard about the demo)

my problem is that the "artist's" characters look an awful lot like significant characters in other games

Demo supports 4 player. Skill change artes sort of work like FoF. It's sort of hard to explain. I'm sure gamefaqs has a topic on how they work though.




And no, I still see zero physical similarities between Rita and Lucca (one looks like a ninja with red hair and the other's a girl with glasses in fairly plain clothes) or Yuri and Sephiroth (hairstyle's different, clothes aren't even close). You didn't even have a comparison for Estelle but I can tell you that no, no other RPG character really looks that similar to her. You can have fun hating the game though! Just don't sit around here bitching and let the people who are actually interested talk.

Are people really arguing about characters looking like other characters? Seriously? At this point you'd kinda figure it'd be a normal thing. How many different games exist now? I mean come on, someones gonna look like someone else eventually. I personally don't care either way, but I don't really see anyone looking like anyone else too much at all myself.


I just downloaded the demo, pretty sweet (Short of course..but hey). I've only been able to run through it about twice though and both times the boss has caked me. But i'm having fun with it. I'll experiment with all of the characters a little bit here soon.

Am I the only one hoping that Vesperia's not quite so long-winded as Abyss?

Oh yeah, the boss for the demo's actually pretty hard. Easiest way I found was to target the smaller wolves first and have Repede set to attack the same enemy as you. Then try to free run around them to get it so you attack from both sides. Then just tell Rita to cast whatever spell you want. You're supposed to use the flowers around the outside edge. You hit them when the enemy's next to them and they stun. With the big wolf thing, going into overlimit helped immensely since you can chain any art together.

There's actually more after the boss with another little scene and a walk down the other side of the forest/hill.

Pretty unexpected with the boss difficulty. The first I remember just smacking around the flowers just to see what would happen and hurting myself. I'll give you strat. a try the next time i play.

And no, your not the only one who hopes it isn't as long winded. I love Abyss, i'm running through it on Unknown now actually, but the story does sort of overplay itself. It's been something i've pointed to a few friends who only seem me playing end game stuff.

Back to Vesperia, I have to say i'm loving the new graphics. They're smooth and just down right pretty. I've also noticed that all of the voice actors are good choices too. But most tales games have pretty good voice acting from what i've seen.

while we're on the subject of Tales games, what do you think of the new Tales of Symphonia? It's already out in Japan. Just watched the third trailer. Pretty cool...
