it was only until after that first turn of tekken 6 I realized dark resurrection was just a re-skin of tekken 5, and not an indication of what tekken sequels are like.

They're always the ones that whoop me, but whenever I try to use them they almost never work. I'm just can't get that kind of timing down.

I find charge characters pretty comfortable to use.

I wanna delete your thread right now based on this post alone because you clearly have no clue what you're talking about.
DR was nowhere near a "re-skin" of Tekken 5. Top tier characters from 5 got nerfed (Nina's u/f+1 was completely removed, Steve was toned down, etc), characters that were low tier became pretty damn good (Anna and King come to mind, mainly because I played them), 2 new characters with completely new move lists, and uh ps they changed a lot of Law's stuff between 5 and DR, but it was subtle stuff that you probably wouldn't notice if you had no idea what was going on, like frame changes and CH properties and all that. Tekken stopped being dominated by r-tards who could spam 2 moves with Nina/Steve/Bryan, etc, and got dominated by characters who take a decent amount of skill, like Devil Jin, Mishimas, King, etc. I really could go on and on but I haven't played Tekken seriously in like a year.
Do me a favor and be 100% positive about what you're talking about before you post it.

Anyone who uses charge characters is going to be playing a largely defensive game. Something as simple as a joystick twitch toward their character is often enough to get them to attack early, and allow you to make them regret it afterwards.

In games where this is actually a valid thought process, it's annoying as hell, and pretty much forces me to choose the "random character" option just to throw off their "strategy." In games where this matters far less (see older MK games), it's just petty.
Also, I hate when the game includes a (normal, not boss) character who is stupidly overpowered. Don't know about you guys, but my first time playing Soul Caliber 2 in the arcade, I beat a Rafael player and proceeded to win the whole vs. AI campaign on one credit with Nightmare. I tried again, playing as Rafael, died in the third match (which is par for me... I suck at fighting games).
But, you know, that's more of a rant against shitty game design more than anything specific to fighting games.

| If a counter character gets picked against you, doesn't necessarily mean you'll lose, you just have more of a disadvantage against you. Happens all the time to my friend in Guilty Gear. If he's playing Potemkin, someone else will pick Testament, or Dizzy. When he doesn't manage to pull through a win, he just switches to their counter, or the character he's best at.
