Over at the Nintendo NSider forums, they are saying on Sep. 14, there will be an NOA press confrence, where Nintendo will MOST LIKELY announce the final release date and price of the Nintendo Wii. It isn't assured, but keep your eyes open for it! Check out the NSider forums for more info. | |

I love how modern business has the big companies making announcements to make an announcement to announce a tentative release date. Knowing Nintendo, I'm not going to trust their first words for this.

This conference has been known about for quite some time, and yes, all indications point to not only a release date, but a price point, announcement of some big name titles (Kid Icarus zomg?), and just general badassery.

I must definitely have one, that smash bros brawl looks like a really fun game.
I only wonder how its supposed to be played with sensored controls. =P

I bet you'd have to play it with a GCN controller.

I heard about the original possibly being one of the first several downloadable NES games, but a brand new one!? You must clarify before my head explodes.

Dammit, they need to announce this soon. My EB won't take reserves on the Wii because they have no definite date yet. I think that's a bit bogus but whatever. As soon as the date is confirmed, I'm out to put down a reserve. | |

^ Same here, although in my area they are taking reservations for launch games. I've already paid off my Zelda one...sort of. It's under the GC reservation with a note saying that I want the Wii version when it's date is released. So there's probably like an extra $20 I'll have to put on that version, but yeah, that's the main reason they need to release the date for me. EB will call, I will reserve, and I will get my system!

GameFAQs has a couple of titles announced with November release dates, if I recall, but they're wrong a lot so I guess it doesn't matter.
I sure hope they don't short-stock them though. Even if SSBB won't be coming out until '07, I want me a Wii by the end of the year... | |

I'm predicting a release date of October 15th. It's a Sunday (just like all their other console releases have been lately), and it's pretty much enough time to get the jump on Sony and get consoles out there before November hits.
