Wii slots' blue light?

Whats the deal with this... I know that it lights up when you get new messages, but is that it? Sometimes mine doesnt even light up when I get messages. Thats kinda sad, I think. It would be cool if it was lit up while playing a game, or at all times while its on (not in standby). Maybe in a future update, this option might become available...

Thats the only function it has, to tell you if you have a new message, if its not lighting up, you may have turned off your console via the physical power button, it will go red if thats the case, and is not in standby (what happens when you turn it off via controller) standby is yellow. If its in standby and your not getting th light, than you may have an issue.

If you want a constantly-on light, simply send a message that you'll never read.

Wrong. If you enable WiiConnect24 then the light is orange regardless of where you turn it off. It does have to do with how long you push the button on the console though. Tapping it will cause WiiConnect24 StandBy Mode. Holding it SHOULD turn the bastard off. In case of rain or something.

The blue light also flashes if there is an available system update IIRC.

Yes it most definitely does that as it woke me up at 3am for the internet update.

LOL yeah, the first time it did that for the weather channel I woke up, saw it glowing, and was like, "WTF my Wii's glowing." I just sat there and watched it for a while. I didn't know if it was updating or what so I didn't want to touch it.

If you have your light set to Dim or Constant (or whatever the other option is called) in your settings menu it should work whenever you receive a new message that isn't your play history.

I think everyone wants the sexy to stay on while playing. It's probably set not to in order to keep power output lower. I don't know. I want it on constantly while playing too.

If you can mod, or know someone that can mod, check out the PulseVU chip http://wii.sickmods.net/

Basically what it does is make your drive light blink slowly on and off [not in the new message "double blink" style] when the system is turned off/on standby, and it makes it glow brighter according to the sound that it detects when the Wii is on..

Sorry if this is advertising, post-wise. I am getting one put in day after tomorrow and I want to spread the news about it. :P

That's really freaking sweet. If I had a little more experience I would try it. For now though, I'll just research it. It seems easy, but I wouldn't want to try it unless I was able to purchase another system if I messed up. I also like that you can disable it if you don't want that on (it would tend to distract me when I'm trying to get to sleep).
