Marketplace Rating: 1 | And Nintendo finally comes back to take over console gaming once more.
Granted, this *IS* worldwide, I believe and the 360 doesn't really sell well in Japan. So taking that into account, it's not that surprising. If it were US only, then it would be absolutely mind blowing.

Marketplace Rating: 11 | the key thing that MS is expecting from halo franchise is that it is a game that can sell a console by itself like 1 and 2 did with ye olde xbox. look at how much they're hyping 3.
that's pretty much MS's big ticket for a while, but the wii has AAA titles from familiar names (zelda's, mario's) it can tap creative idea's out of for a while. and the whole casual game thing is making this game reach out to practically every demographic. 360 might still lead in the US, but i feel even that will get overtaken eventually.
and sony shrivels up and dies. 3 mil for them geeze. they gotta kick it up with, keyword, QUALITY games and more exclusives to make them look better. if they dont want to end up like Gamecube

After everyones big games come out, then we'll see what the numbers look like.

A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | The fact that the Wii is still supply-constrained is going to hurt them in holiday sales unless Nintendo's been setting aside a stockpile of November to late December units. They'll absolutely sell out of everything they do manufacture but they might end up leaving a lot of money on the table this year.
The 360 is going to see a major spike from September 25th through the end of the year because of Halo 3. I can only speak anecdotally but I know a large number of people who are getting Premium systems just because of H3, and it's a safe bet that most people who own a 360 already are going to get the game. Owning an Xbox without it is kind of silly.
The PS3? I dunno. There's still a complete lack of any must-haves on the system, since Home isn't out of beta and LittleBigPlanet isn't due out until next year. MGS4 falling back hurt a lot, since that would have been my motivation to grab one. Sales will be up, in part because HDTV sales tend to improve around Christmas and people want something pretty to show on their new set, but it's hard to guess how much of an impact that'll have.

Although I think that Nintendo has been stockpiling shit for the past 8 months. In my area at least theres one or two Wiis available at any given time. This is what makes me think theres a huge pile of them somewhere that they'll let lose come Black Friday. They are however going to sell each and every single box they put on a shelf this December, which is something Nintendo hasn't come close to doing for 14+ years.

What really topped it off to being successful was a two minute advertisement of an assortment of people playing it, including some old people playing it with their grandkids as well as country hicks. YouTube - Wii for All
Re: 17 years
Nintendo's been out longer than that. :/ I've been playing it since I was born...

access to both old and new in affordable price. | Not everyone has a wii, and not all things will easily run on the Wii. Tell me, how am I supposed to play Nintendo Puzzle Collection (Read: For Panel De Pon) on my American Wii, running Software 3.0, without opening the case. Its not possible at this time.
So a 50 dollar Nintendo GameCube, will do me up nicely, and later on I can do up some switchmod, and not have the issue of using Freeloader to make the damn thing boot.
