Will EB Games take a completely functional DS...

...with a broken hinge?
Well actually only one part of the hinge is broken, the two pieces of the DS are still securely attached.
So will EB/Gamestop take it?
If not that ruins all plans for my Christmas + Birthday money

It entirely depends upon which store you go to and when you go.

Go to a place that deals with more scummy customers (see: inner city, not suburbs) and go when there's a lot of people there.

Don't point the hinge out. If it's busy enough they won't want to spend the time to fully inspect the thing, and they'll never notice.

Technically, they shouldn't take the DS.

And the top part will most likely move if you grip it at all. That means opening it too.

So basically I have no chance. Bummer...

Try to sell it on eBay. Even if you make the problem known (you should), someone will probably buy it.

Just as long as your serial number is intact, EB Games will take it in as a trade-in. However, they are going to charge you a refurbish fee, and with the amount you get for the trade-in, I think you're looking at only $20 or so.

First off, is it an old model DS or a DS Lite? If it's an older model, you're not going to get much for it (like less than $50). They tend not to charge a refurb fee on cosmetic system damage so long as it's minor and doesn't hinder gameplay.

A DS Lite you'll get probably around $70 on in trade in.

Again, I don't know if they'll charge a refurb fee on it or not. I'd have to see the damage to actually know if it's bad enough for it.

Still, you'd get more money on eBay for it if you could get a friend to sell it for you.

Yes its an old DS
My serial number has faded, but I can still read the whole thing
The damage does not affect gameplay at all. I can play it like normal.
I only need about $30 to get enough for a lite. I currently have $112
So as long as I have a chance. If it weren't for my brother having no respect for other people's property, my hinge would be fine. He just HAD to go and drop it...on the hardwood floor......

C.O.Sakura: I don't have a data transfer cable for my phone, but I'll describe it as much as I can. It's on the rightmost part of the hinge, the rightmost part that's connected to the top piece. It's the smallest part of hinge connected to the top part. That part of the hinge is broken. Hope you can picture it.

I know what you're talking about. That doesn't seem too bad.

My friend Chance bought a DS (original) from GameStop/EBGames that had a broken hinge (broken on the left side, the large part of the hinge) , so that's the only reason I would think that they'd end up taking one without charging refurb on it.

You might as well just go in and see what you could get for it.

You'll get like $10 !! You might aswell sell it to a friend / boot sale , junk sale.

FUCK GAME / Electronics Botique (I gave them like 10 of my NEW SHINY GAMEBOY GAMES and they gave me $30....I gave them my POKEMON CRYSTAL that was NEW and BOXED all shiny and packed up bought for $90 and all of my games for $30 ! I HATE YOU EB / GAME

You know, you could have just...not traded them in at an EBGameStop location. That was your own fault, don't blame the company because you're a god damned retard.

Even if the game is technically new, it is officially considered used once it trades hands from a store to a consumer.

Plus trading in a still sealed game makes you look like a shoplifter who just decided to swipe a sealed copy of the game off a sales floor. I mean, why the FUCK would you buy a game for $90 and then turn around and sell it? You probably did steal it and are just trying to come off looking like the victim here.
