Yyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! Here we go again, this time with a new thread. I present, Bemani Fan Arts 2007!!!!

So first off, let me introduce the basics and how we going to do this. We’re going to start off with the same details we had last year:

• This time, I will not limit the book to a maximum number of pages.
• All pictures must be able to fit 6 ½ inches x 10 ¼ inches page borders. In the previous book, I had to resize some of the images to fit the pages.
• Black and white images (line art,) should be scanned and saved as a TIFF file or “flattened” BMP file. These images should be worked using 600 dpi. Color and grayscale images can also be submitted in TIFF or BMP. Please work using 300 dpi for color and grayscale.
• This year, written (or typed) works will be accepted as well. If you think you can handle writing, by all means, submit. Please use spell check and a dictionary, I will contact you if I see any visible errors.
• If anyone wants to put new ideas in the book, please say so in the thread and we should all vote to consider it. (I know someone wanted to include a cosplay section?)

I’m also presenting the Hell Challenge, this is what it is:

• In the oncoming months, I will present a theme for everyone to draw a picture of. No one is forced to do a picture, this all depends on if any one wants to go threw with this. There are going to be four themes.
• The pictures will be judge by a panel of five people. I will not be judging. The pictures will be graded on a scale of 1 to 50. Anything past 40 makes the book (if there are no 40’s, then 35 and higher are in the book.)
• The four pictures to make the book, gets a prize in their pictures theme (and no, I don’t mean lame pencils. The max amount of prize on each artist is 50$.) Also, don’t worry; I got me a new job, so we are in the clear.
• Finally, a page dedicated to the winners will be drawn mimicking the Hell course pictures from the Pop’n Series. The artists can decide what they want to look like.

Submission:

Anyone can submit just as long as they can draw fan art. This time around, fan characters will be accepted just as long as at least one BEMANI character is feature in the picture.

The official timeline of this project is: OCTOBER 1st to JANUARY 19th, 2007. Time extension for people who want it is till JANUARY 26th, 2007.

I will update this space as more ideas and details are discussed.

Hey, question that might've been asked already a while, while back, but uh... how legal is all this? The whole... selling art of characters we don't own always sounded iffy...

All the copyrights and other information are included in the book. Credit is giving to the respected artists who drew the original characters.

The book never states that the characters in the work belong to the artist drawing it for the book. It says that all the characters belong to Konami and Konami’s respective artists.

We can not get into any trouble unless I was stupid enough to not to put copyrights or credit to Konami.

That would be cool! I didn't participate in the "06. But I would love to join and do "new" fanarts (becuase the previoius works don't have boarders.. -x- Except for empty white spaces...), and don't mind if I can't get the book!

Besides... I don't want to be left behind, nyan..

P.S. Do I realy have to make boarders? Or just adjust the image size.. XP

No, you do not have to make boarders. Let’s see if I can clarify the directions a bit more.

The book’s width is 6 ½ inches and the book’s height is 10 ¼ inches, your image should be small enough that it does not get cut by the printer during printing.

I'm just wondering but I guess this judge will change with the time, no? Because, what if one of the judges wants to participe also?

I haven’t decided who the judges are right now, especially since I want to get all the ideas together. I think I’ll announce them after the first challenge has been made. I can tell you that I have two who’s willing to help me out (http://zeroa.deviantart.com,) and they are very good at judging art, they’ve done previous art books before so I’m pretty sure they are fair.

The judges will have to judge during the course of all four challenges. That’s pretty much final and being a judge also makes them ineligible to participate in the challenges too. They can opt out of being a judge and participate in the next challenge; in that case, I’ll find a replacement. If I can’t find a replacement, I’ll step up and take that judges place for that challenge. They are allowed to come back and judge the next challenge after the one they participated in.

If anyone wants to judge a challenge, they can, just be sure to remember that you can’t take part of the challenge your judging and that you can only opt out once.
