Haa, soon, I will have that custom title of “Bemani Fan Art Leader.”

At first it was suppose to be Cubism, now the challenge has been cancelled until I find something else, and along the lines of sensible and reasonable, that follows the universal rule of art and all that other jazz. Appearantly, I don't know anything about art LOL.

Cubism Challenge cancelled.

I did cubism in art class before and I have to say, it was hard.
However, I'm up for a good challenge. >)

*Finishes her KFC macaroni...*

Whoa.. That isn't in my art lessons yet! O_O This.. Would be hard. I would love to do it, but could use a bit of reference (for ideas on how...)

So.. Let me think about it.. (And more harder since I havn't covered up that kind of lesson... Only could do best is tissue paper collage like i've done to Pop'n 's Ice...)

Now.. Let me get some KFC chicken. XD

Seriously, this is a very bad challenge. Cubism relies on working from life and viewing a subjest at multiple angles. Unless you create a 3d model or have someone dress up for a figure study, it won't be real cubism. I mean, it may be possible to come up with something vaguely resembling cubism, but it wouldn't be real and anyone who knows anything about art would say as much.

Well, what the hell, thanks for screwing up the challenge, you just blurted out EXACTLY what I wanted them to try and do. I did not tell them HOW, for a reason, they needed to figure that out for themselves. That challenege is now cancelled.

There were never any rules in art to begin with. If I seem a little angry with this post, I'm sorry. I'm just having problems with PayPal and my bank right now.

Double post like what?

Actually now that I think about it, that was a very bad challenge, my fault indeed, you are right. I apologize with great sympathy. (I set a bad example for someone who went to LaGuardia High School in NYC.)

Anyways, here’s what I have so far for the book that I’ve wrote in my sketchbook. The text is small because I write small so I’ll re-sketch everything and type it here (give me a few hours.) Here are some scans; I’m going with a simple format this time.

Yes I really do right this small.

This is an example of why I thought it was a bad idea. Many people don't actually understand cubism. They either think cubes like Koop (Sorry to use you as an example, Koop. I realize you were making a joke, but you happen to make a good example.), or the get stuck on the idea of making the image whacked out looking without any real reason behind it.

Some challenges you might want to consider may include Impressionism, Neoclassism, Notan, Pop Art, negative space, sculpting, arts and crafts, or print making. I think these are concepts that might be a little more accessible. Tthe first two might be a more of a challenge for most of the budding artists here since they require a really good understanding of color theory and quite a bit of refinement in technique, but it might be intersting to see what they come up with.

Also, I suggest not accepting artwork for a challenge if it doesn't meet the minimum score. There is no point of dropping the baseline if everyone failed the challenge. Although this would make the book bigger, the content would not be as good. The first book seemed kind of rushed, but since you have more time with this one, you have the chance to get a lot more polished pieces out of the artists here. Who knows, maybe I'll get inspired and take my art supplies out of retirement.

edit: Apologies if I'm sounding harsh. I'm actually trying to give constructive criticism. I like the idea behind this project. I just want to help it to realize its potential.

No worries Seiya, I can not fault you on giving good advice (it’s my fault for taking a lot of things wrong.) I’m not going to make the first challenge till October; I have this habit of rushing into things, so I’m going to take my time with this.

I'm studying design and I think giving challenges with such artistic themes like cubism isn't the best idea. I mean, I don't think everybody here study History of Art or have the technique and skills for reproduce such manifestations like Cubism or Clasical art style.

I guess, instead of giving challenges like that, challenges should be related with an specific topic. For instance, 'Chistmas' or 'Summer', even 'Favourite food'. Because an artbook now is for people that likes to look contemporary and cute art, not for being exposed on a museum. I think topics like that, more simple can give better results than the idea before named.

Don't know, I'm just giving random ideas. What do you think, guys?

However.. I'm non-stop at Pop''n fanarts, so except to see.... A bit more Minit's for the next few days. (In a list...)

Unless you want to spoil yourlsef (to see my works) by going to "Post your own Bemani Works"! XD I'll be checking back!
