Help with Image Illusions

Does anyone know of a simple way to create your own image illusions like this?:
(note this will only work in IE)
highlight image after viewing


im not quite sure what exactly to do to get the same effect.
i think it has something to do with transparencies and possibly lowering the alpha channels but im completely stuck
