help start VJing...apps?

I didn't think much of VJing when I watch hip hop music videos, being not much more than aggregates of raw clips with a few simple transitions.

Then I saw psychedelic style videos for trance & goa, and those really appealed to me. I was wondering if anyone knows what are the best apps for making psystyle videos? The video for DJ Taka's Quickening (in BM IIDX) is the pinnacle of epileptic, and that's the kind of thing I'd like to go for. Preferably freeware before I actually decide to get serious with it!

Well.. all I can say is use PSP and sometime of animation/movie maker for it.

I think Flash could help alot. Just a suggestion. ^^;
