Hmmm, well I started this a few months back, but since I've had to reformat my hard drive, I never got to finish it. I still had to start the wheels, finish the highlights/shadows and make a background, as well as work on the minor details like windscreen wipers and door handles.

Tsugaru, your colored drawings would look a lot better if you cleaned up your lines. That coloring style already doesn't blend well with the style of drawings you're trying to do (I know because I used to try to do it too), but what makes it look the most sloppy is that you didn't do anything with your scanned pencil lines. Particularly, the outer lines of the drawing that touch the black background are just missing, and she looks as though she's being slowly eaten by the background like it's acid. The hair tends to blend into the background so it's not clear where the hair ends and the background begins, because both are so dark. My advice would be to either change the color of the background and do some real lines on the outside of your figure, or do some kind of contrasting halo around her figure to separate her from the background. While you're at it, you should try to fix the fact that there is no definition to the shape of her clothes, because the pattern you used is so dark that you can't see the lines you drew.

In general, when you're painting like that, I would suggest that you leave no pencil lines visible as pencil. It's a pain to go over all the lines, but the results will definitely be worth it. What particularly confuses me about your works is that you make such an effort to include all these patterns, which means that you pay attention to details, and then you just don't do anything with your pencil lines.

Thanks for the advice.

Since it was for a friend, I was seeing if she liked what I could do with it.
I'm the worst person to work with inks- i can't tell if I make the lines too think or too thin or anything of the sort. (Maybe I should just stick with pencil!) Not only that, I don't have any good inking pens at home. (Only Sakura microns, which I despise with a passion- They run out too quickly!)

If I had a tablet, I would have gone over it...
Ah. Well, I guess I know what to get later on. ^_^;;;

Just photoshop and a simple pencil tool, really. There are much better programs out there specifically for Pixel art, but I was under a time constraint so I worked with what I had

edit: here's the whole sequence. It's pretty campy/generic, but it was fun to make, at least
