Photoshop/IR help plz. n00b

I am new to Photoshop and ImageReady since I recently got it. I am using version 9.0 CS2 and I was hoping that you guys could teach me a few things about Photoshopping and stuff.
Why? Well, it looks cool seeing how mostly everyone else makes their own avatars and signature pics. So I am hoping that I could start making my own signatures and avatars sometime soon, that is still hoping if you guys could teach me a few things or lead me through some sort of mini-tutorial and such.

Just play around with the tuturials there, and you'll figure things out in no time.

edit: Don't just rely on these tuturials for everything you do, use them as guides to help you to learn the program on your own. It's really easy to spot when someone has just copied an online tutorial verbatum.

Exactly, tutorials and guiding your way through learning the program is the best way to do whatever you want with it.

Yeah, there's a ton of tutorials online. The best way to learn though is to just play around with the features in Photoshop until you can start spitting out neat creations. Experience is also very important.
