Seriously, though, I'll download thenew tracks in a little bit. Gotta mow the lawn first. If they're at all your standard quality, though, I can hardly wait.

Ancient Gateway:

0:00-0:15
Nice intro -- very atmospheric. I like how you can feel the beat immediately; it makes it easier to get into the piece.

0:15-0:50
You expose the themes very nicely. It sets the mood for the music that is coming afterwards. As always, your use of percussion is stunning. You add so many small variations in there that really add something to the piece. They prevent things from becoming stale. The balance was good, too, but I really expected there to be a lot more inner voices other than the melody. The melody and chords are great, but the other voices are really neglected; it sort of feels like a sandwich without the meat.

0:50-1:23
Once again, fantastic use of percussion. It gives it that asian-type feel to it that is your quintessential sound. I didn't think you developed the themes enough, though. The same thing repeated twice without much variation, and I expected there to be something else there. Also, the bass and inner voices are being really neglected. You have the melody exposed, but not the foundation. It sort of feels lopsided.

1:23-1:55
This is really where I think it starts to sound like an ancient gateway. You really bring the themes together here, and it really sounds great. This time, the inner voices are a lot more pronounced, and it feels fuller -- more complete.

1:55-2:15
Great, great transition. It really sets up the change nicely.

2:15-2:43
Really nice, atmorspheric melodies, here. The percussion is great, as usual, and it flows really nicely. My only complaint other than the lack of inner voices (you could add in some suspension chords in here which I think would sound amazing) is that you just repeated the same thing twice without developing or changing it. If you do decide to add in repetition, make it really count for something. If you don't think it's really necessary, try to add something else in there that keeps you listening for something new.

2:43-3:42
Really great ending here. You recapitulate the opening melodies and themes with grace, and you even show that you have mastery of music without percussion. It is the kind of smooth, soft ending that I expect from a piece like this.

9/10 - Fantastic job. Try to add more inner voices other than the melody, especially bass. Also, avoid simple repetition; keep the listener listening.

It's great to see works coming from you again. I'll review the second new piece when I can.

Wow, thanks for the comments guys!

perKeceT > but you ARE worthy lol, thanks dude!

Ribos > Actually, i don't think they're my standard quality~
Lately, i've had less time to work on music because of work/school so
these "latest releases" were actually unfinished projects that i wrapped
up working on them once a week or so. I haven't written anything
completely new in over 4 months ^_^'' But i'm getting back into it!

Farf > Wow, I didn't expect to get such an indepth review from you
so fast! I really do think i rushed that one out too fast. Honestly,
i wasn't feeling it as much~ maybe it was the style. Again,
thanks for the comments and i'll really keep those in mind-
it means a lot to me Farf (you're the expert ^_* b).

Thanks everyone! More to come soon- I'm currently working on a new
track for the Originals Contest here in Bemanistyle ^_^

Actually, i wrote Remember December during December 2004~
I'm not sure when the ITG song was written, but it's just
coincidence ^_^'' Only the titles are the same... though
i've never heard the ITG song, i saw it on the song wheel once haha ^_^''

Meas, I've always thought your melodies were impeccable. These tracks are no exception, especially sand charmer. I know you might not think they are your best, since they took you less time to complete and you said they were a bit rushed, but truthfully, I don't know if it is just because you've gotten better with time or practice, but I consider them some of your best works.

Just a few comments on them specifically though.
In sand charmer, I like your precussion, but I feel like the levels for some of them are quite low, to the point where I find myself strainging my ears to hear them

In ancient gateway, in the part with all the echoey effects and gated synths, near to the middle of the piece (I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but my iTunes and other music players aren't working, so I'm forced to listen through Firefox), it sounds a bit confused. toning down the echoes just a little bit would help ease this, I think.

Though this is probably not helpful, just to let you know, I prefered sandcharmer. I can't tell you why, I just do.

Anyways, great work.

That's funny, because i've been getting mixed comments about the percussion~
Some people think it's too LOUD/annoying and some people think it's
too LOW/annoying lol... Maybe i should just get rid of it all together haha ^_^''

Speaking of Echo effects, yea ^_^'' I think i get used to using them too much
and rely on it to get some harmonies out of the samples. Since reading
your post, i've toned down the Echo on my MP Originals Submission track.

Thanks again Red~

My latest track is also the track i entered for this sub-forum's contest.
It's kind of the story of Cranes slowly rising up into the air and taking flight.
Soaring high above the clouds, they create what looks like 1 very large crane.
They then pass through a rainbow and have their wings colored with
every color imaginable. As they pick up more speed, they lose some
of their colored feathers and the feathers slowly fall towards the ground~
Decorating it.

DjMeas - One Thousand Cranes

Hope you guys like it! More to come soon!
