Default composing hardcore/gabba q's

i have been trying to make sounds that emulate that of teranoid, Dj chucky, etc. and i can come moderately close, but no where near perfect. how would i go about creating the heavy distorted kicks basslines, or the wierd ass garbled sounds that teranoid uses? its bugging the hell out of me because its the only thing stopping me from composing hardcore.

Get a Roland Alpha Juno 2. That's where you can get a "hoover" sound which is pretty distorted and you can hear it in a lot of gabba and hardcore songs. (I think gigadelic has it, not too sure though.)

Will pay good money for a DDRX2 poster/archstand.

If you're using FL Studio there's a few simple steps

Click the options menu from the menu bar, then open general settings

In the Advanced Box, make sure "Show legacy precomputed effects" is turned on (orange box)

Now when you load in a sample you should notice in the channel settings there is a bar where you can scroll down a little (click here for a picture, it's easier than explaining it)
Anyway once you get that window up, mess around with the "sine fx" knob and you'll get that weird bouncy sound.

Now to add distortion, you want to send the sample to an FX channel (in that picture, you see the little box in the top right of the window with "--" just click that and make it a 1 or something), then you want to bring up the mixer window (press F9) and click on the "Insert 1" bar on the left. Then there are a bunch of bars on the right side with little arrows next to them, that's the FX chain, you want to click one of the arrows and find "Fast Dist" this is distortion FX. A little window for the FX should pop up and you just mess with the knobs for it. If it doesn't pop up just click on it in the fx chain.

Hope that helps.

well, I would guess gabba and the likes used a good amount of bit crushing, and foldback distortion. The hard part is getting awesome distored kicks and basses, and having them not interfere with eachother. That in itself has made me put off gabba for a while, as I do not have the time to make that stuff work :P.

Also the Vec 2 Hard Kicks pack has some nice kicks, though they could still use some tweeking.

Also yea, hoover I hear alot in gabba. Also lots of pitch bending. and 12th notes .
