I'd prefer a cool and a deadly darkstep, followed by techno DnB, dubstep, techno, hardcore, and breakcore.

Melodic Trance, Progressive house, Hard Trance, D'n'B, Glitch/IDM.
I've also been getting into a lot of Breakcore and Drill 'n' Bass lately.

Primarily metal (with a leaning to thrash), but also industrial, EBM, and "contemporary classical" or however you want to call it.

Avant-gardism is pretty much the order of the day here.

Does edIT count as a style? He's making almost exactly the sort of ridiculous music I want to make- something thoughtful and exceedingly well crafted, but fucking funky and heavy at the same time.

I'd say a Glitch Mob/Justice/MSTRKRFT/DIOYY style, but nobody's really doing that yet.

If you don't know the glitch mob, you should check them out, and you should start with edIT's album "Certified Air Raid Material". Every sound is perfectly crafted, and edIT's skill in production is unmatched.

I honestly don't know how I would classify their sound. Anyone have any idea?

Personally

My favorite EDM genre is obviously uplifting melodic trance (which is usually the stuff that Above and Beyond produces hence why I like their tunes so much).

Aside from trance, I also have appreciation for house, a bit of D&B, a bit of electro, synthpop as well as ambient and chillout

Of course, I myself am appreciative of all genres and categories of music.

It's just that the ones I mentioned are the ones that I appreciate the most hehe

apparently he identifies himself as Glitch Hop? I started looking up his stuff and it's very very cool, I'll have to look into Glitch Mob now =)

(apparently he's produced albums for Busdriver so that makes him even more awesome)

ew. I do not like the way that sounds. Far too reminiscent of the shitstorm that was nu-metal. I think I'll just stick with calling it modern classical.
