Wow, this is a lot of great looking software for all being free. I might actually check some of this stuff out. Thanks for posting this! I totally think this deserves to be stickied since it's pretty relevant to everyone's interests.

If I think of some things to add when I'm not tired and out of it, I'll post. Sorry to hear your music pc is dead too

Default Thank You

Hi Everyone,

I'm Colm and I'm a member of the trakAx team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Warpticon for mentioning and reviewing our Mixing software trakAxPC and for also mentioning our royalty-free loops, beats and full length tracks, TrakPacks.

We are only starting off so as a thank you for your mention, we would like to offer your members a special 10% discount on any of our loops, beats and full tracks.

Just copy and paste this code when purchasing your trakpacks: 150708

Here is a link to trakPacks. This offer closes on the 31st of July.

Loops and beats start in price from $1.99 for a bundle of 10 loops and full length tracks start from $12.99. All loops and tracks are professionally made and producers include Loopmasters, Zero-G, Wavtracks and Equinox Sounds.

I hope you all enjoy and remember, be creative.

Thanks again,

Colm

pretty good list, and what i like most about it is that it has some stuff i haven't heard of before. i downloaded TrakAx in a heartbeat, and it's awesome that they're offering a discount on the sample packs =) can't wait to give this a try.

traverso DAW also sounds promising. i am all about the cross plat stuff. i'd be spending more time in linux if it wasn't for ableton live and fl studio and some of the best iidx simulators =/

LMMS 0.4has reached RC2. It's much more stable, and has VST support enabled. Pretty awesome free Fruity-alike.

VSTi Synthesizer and Algorithmic musicsytems by H.G. Fortune

Go download the Avatar ST Free Basic if you haven't already. And if you have, download it again. It's almost criminal that they're giving that thing away; I'm almost afraid to see what the paid version can do. Oh yeah, and there are some other really nice free versions of stuff up there, but seriously: the Avatar ST is possibly the best free pad synth I've ever used. Just watch out for the RAM usage. And use a large screen.

Ugo - VST/Audio/Visual

Likewise, some nice freeware VSTs along with their even-nicer paid versions, but the one I'm drooling over right now is the Rez 2.0. Not as impressively huge as the Avatar ST, but it's incredibly versatile and it's got some nice presets. With a bit of tweaking, you've easily got a professional-grade synth. For FREE.
