In the case of tunecore, I figure I should let you know about it, since it is potentially usefull to all of you unsigned artists. Basically, for a fee, (I think its $25), Tunecore will put your music up on iTunes and give you 70% of the profits. A full CD on iTunes (in general) costs $10, so by selling four full copies of the CD you recoup your initial investment cost. the only potential downside is the 6-8 week turnaround, but hell, you can always use that time to create buzz. I plan on putting an album up there (full, cleaner, more polished and melodically complex versions of all of the songs of mine that you've heard, and some (canblaster and Jihnsius can speak for me when I say they are good) new ones, like funky stretch, house of love, and the astral jellyfish). So, as well as this being a plug, I'm letting you know that such a resource exists, and that to sign up is free. http://www.tunecore.com/

This seems very interesting, but I'm slightly skeptical. You'll have to tell me how it works out before I'll consider using it. My thing is that 70% of the earnings (for iTunes, anyways) seems like quite a bit. That's better than a number of record companies I've talked to and have heard stories of, and with some nice sign-up fees.
If you can get a decent amount of money from this, though, I will certainly keep it in mind. Your music doesn't suck enough to be considered pretentious, so I'll probably drop the money for the album. That'll also let me test the sound quality preservation of the site.
Good luck with this, and if it works, awesome find!
