Hey, whatever gets the job done. Who cares if its a casio?

I personally use my analog synths as midi controllers when I'm not using their sounds, if you were curious

Also, unless you want a cheap vocoder, I really don't recommend the microkorg. The sounds are PALE in comparison to this baby: Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth and more Keyboard Synthesizers at GuitarCenter.com.

Fantastic little synth. That, and the Roland SH201 are the biggest "bang-for-your-buck" synths imo

just went earlier, I saw some nice stuff. a motif, mpc5000, some other keyboards. They didn't really have much variety just a lot of expensive stuff. I saw the oxygen 49 for 140 so i think i might get that.

Or even better, a USB port that sends MIDI data.

Casios are baller, especially if you intend to be using it exclusively for MIDI. Hell, I have a Casio that's older than I am, and it still works really nicely for MIDI recording. If I were you I would check eBay for older ones with midi out- if you don't have a soundcard with a frontpanel that supports midi, M-audio makes a cheap little device that'll turn the signal into USB for you that works like a charm. Good Luck!
