Well, for that, you need to know how to, you know, buy guitars and drums. But for making a general range of music you need these in this order.

1. Computer, which you have.
2. MIDI Interface
3. Studio Monitors
4. Instruments
5. Mic

But again, always go to a Sam Ash or Guitar Center over Best Buy.

Question though:

I've witnessed that when people mention 88-key synthesizers, the good stuff usually comes from Roland and KORG (at least what I've observed from music producers and those doing concerts and stuff).

However (out of curiosity)

How come no one's mentioned Yamaha?

I would just like to say my Yamaha DTXpress and my AES620 are incredible. Thank you, Yamaha. If I were to buy a grand, it'd be a Yamaha. When I have a kid, they're going to be named Yamaha, if not dj Meas.

the Yamaha Motif series are the best sample/tone generators on the market

No one just knows it yet

I'm actually thinking of opening a synthesizer thread for reviews and info. I will most likely open with a full review of the Yamaha Motif XS rack, which I've had the pleasure of using through a client. Anyone interested?

I know that at the very least, with the fantom, you can record the guitars, drums, and mic straight into the system. I also would like something that would help me loop the sounds I make, which the guy said the phantom did as well. The only thing about the cheaper ones mentioned is that i am assuming since they dont have a screen, they dont have the capability of saving and looping sounds.
Also lastly, this may be an increadibly ignorant statement, but I thought the point of having a synth was to sortof emulate the sounds of drums and guitars. Does asaki mic his instruments or just do everything live?

Basicaly, I want something that will let me record one part of a song, save it, record another part of a song, save it, and be able to manipulate and move around what I have saved, and even play over what I have saved to make a more complete sound. Do these synths come with the cables and computer programs to do that?

Especially the 88-key ones (if possible) as I'm also curious on recommending my buddy one for double duty (to act as a piano to teach his child and a musical instrument for EDM).
