Marketplace Rating: 0 | [Melodic Trance] Hand of Time (Radio Edit) [Ętheros] Well I'm finally back. (Diggit_6 for the two of you that probably remember me )
Haven't posted on Bemanistyle for a while until recently, and even that was just in the Theme Discussion section :P) I've done alot of new work since last I was here, so you can listen to that if you want, but what I'm really here to shamelessly plug, is my newest track "Hand of Time (Radio Edit)" Hand of Time (Radio Edit), created by Ętheros and presented through ACIDplanet.com
This one I've been working on for a couple weeks, and decided, just so that I wouldn't forget about it before it was done, to do a radio edit, upload that, and then worry about whether or not a full version would be completed. I'm about fifty fifty on whether the full version will be done, since I started on a new song two days ago, but that one looks like it'll be done soon, and maybe I can get around to finishing this. Feedback is appreciated very much.
Made in Reason 3.0, with a Korg K25 MIDI keyboard, and my beloved Skullcandy "Skullcrushers" Headphones
All Synths were self programmed, all drum patterns made using drum samples from the Reason Library, along with quite a few effects. I do not use any loops at all.
192 kb/s

Marketplace Rating: 0 | :/ Well I've thought about it, but $20 is a bit much for me right now. Maybe If I can get some encouragement from a few more people I will, But I'm not confident in it enough right now to spend money I don't necessarily have.
Thanks though.

Also, I feel you need some sort of melody.
It's not bad, but it's very generic.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | YES SHORT TRANCE! I remember you sir. Your clap is a bit too loud and maybe the crash is too but that's probably because my ears are sensitive. You've really gotten a lot better since your older works. I would've liked if it you would've brought in that counter arp melody that comes in with the main melody. You've really gotten a lot better. Marketplace Rating: 0 | Thanks, yeah I always have trouble getting the clap level correctly. It either ends up too soft or, in this case, too loud. I suppose that 'too soft' would actually be better than 'too hard' now that I think about it. also I had something else in mind for that melody, for the full version, should I finish it.

I think your kick should be a bit more defined as well. It doesn't sound well with the hi hat you got going, and when the clap comes in, it all sounds pretty cheap and generic.
Its not bad composition wise, but the cheap sounds and production doesn't really let the full potential come out. Use different samples!

Marketplace Rating: 3 | Yeah you need something better than skullcandy headphones for mixing because they're going to boost your frequencies way the hell too much and you won't be able to mix properly.
For instance in this song the hihats are too soft and get drowned out in the mix, and the lead arp is way too soft, you can barely hear it. Most of the time all you hear is UHN-BASS-CLAP-BASS which makes it sound generic. The crash definitely needs to be toned down, it sounds really bad. Add some real light delay to it and see if you can add some decay to the sample to make it stretch out a little longer and kinda fade out instead of just going CRAAAASHH|STOP|

I do understand what you're saying about my percussion, and I've already tones it down quite a bit and leveled things a bit better, but it'll definitely take some time to master.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | You can get a good pair of monitoring headphones for about $100 if you're willing to drop the cash. I recommend Sennheiser HD280 or Sony MDR-7506.

Marketplace Rating: 23 | Monitoring headphones apply mostly to dj's though. Nothing beats a pair of monitors for music production.
I've seen good ones go for 150 a pair.
