I can appreciate the creative vision behind Wild Sky, but I'm not so sure on the excecution .. it sounds like everything that wasn't a vocal sample was just thrown in.
As for drum'n'bass .. we need to get you some actual pads, haha. The intro sounds so disjointed. It's not exactly drum'n'bass, either. It might even be a bit fast for DnB. Right now, it's three chords in the same sequence .. over, and over again. Doesn't make for a very interesting song. The ending comes out of no where .. it's like, "Song, song, song, so-ENDING!"
My two cents. | |

ElectroShock - Not a bad track, the claps were very loud in the beginning. It moves from one section to another rather quickly (though i know it's a short track), you've got to focus more on building on each section and the transitions that move them along. You have some good ideas here, they just never really shine through due to simple production and dare i say lack of effort/time spent.
Wild Sky - I like the synthwork in here and the use of sound FXs. Did you sequence these out yourself? Comparing ElectroShock and this track, it sounds like you spent more time on this one. Unfortunately again, it's just one step to the other A > B > C > D > End. Keep it up, try to focus on expanding your ideas.
How long have you been working on music?

I completely agree with etherstyle in his critique of your D'n'B, but I have to say, what's probably crippling you the most right now is your reliance on samples of low quality. If you're gonna be sampling in your music, even for things like a snare drum, you've gotta make sure it's of high quality, otherwise it brings the overall sound of the production down tremendously.

Hive made a great point - samples do a lot. However, don't rely on them ...
This is what I want you to do, if you're up to it: take a look at your favorite music, and identify what genres they are. Then, find as much of that as you can. Listen to it, pick apart the main components of the song. Then emulate them.
From there, add your own flavor. Right now, the best goal (in my mind) isn't to pioneer anything. You're just getting your feet wet. Learn what's currently out there, then branch out. The greatest musicians weren't born great, right?
You've got potential. Run with it.

Listen to how they do it .. it's usually ..
KXXX SXXX XXKX SXXX
Where K is kick, and S is snare. The hihat is set every second note, or every single one .. like
HXHX HXHX HXHX HXHX
or
HHHH HHHH HHHH HHHH
... depending how you want to mix it up.
A ride sometimes sits every four beats.
RXXX RXXX RXXX RXXX

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Oh yeah ... for DnB, you might want to slow it down a bit. I think 165-175 is pretty safe. If you want to be super accurate, Wiki it.
