Sonys would be excellent monitors if it werent for the fact that they are so effing uncomfortable.

and when you get to the price range where they are comfortable, you have better choices else where anyway

i used that head-fi website when i was looking to buy new headphones, but whatever i buy from sony tends to break (or manage to get lost somewhere). not sure if it's just my luck or not, but who knows. i do like my audio tech's.

Agreeing that Sennheiser is the best. I have HD280's and they're really nice, comfortable, and fairly affordable at around $100. Not to mention Sennheiser offers replacement parts through their website, so if anything breaks, tears, or goes bad, you can replace it for a lot cheaper than buying a new set.

pair of sennheiser hd-25 over here. expensive as shit (about $200), but they will never, never, never, never, never let you down and they sound fucking brilliant.
also, i can recommend the pioneer hdj-1000 which are slightly boomier and a bit less comfortable but still toward the upper echelon of headphones.

I would recommend the pioneers but...they were my first pair of dj monitors and they broke on me within six months. The frames just cant take that much pressure.

Do this.
I've had a pair of these for about a year now, and they still sound perfect.
