Are royalty-free samples still legally usable if someone else gives them to you?

Doesn't Really Matter, as there is next to know way to know who owns what royalty free CD at any point in time.

It depends on the agreement that comes upon downloading them. It depends. Anyway, there's really no way to check who has what, or what sounds too much like what, or any litigations in between. No matter what you produce, chances are there's something that'll sound similar. There's no way to prove if the samples you use are actually yours or someone else's.
